I found this article on Olin today in the IEEE magazine and thought you guys might find it interesting. Olin looks like such an amazing/fun/best/super/etc. place, I can't wait to apply :)

http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/may06/3432

thanks for the link! i cant tell you how glad i am that i am not in your position (being a rising senior). the application process is fun tho, and if you make it, CW is amazing. just make sure to stay at the BECC and pull all-nighters

I have to agree; at least for our weekend, the BECC was where I met some of my favorite people. We had an amazing time. (Twister in an elevator?) I think a lot of the kids that stayed elsewhere were a bit disappointed. I liked being an orphan too, but as long as your parents don't care if you're looking for an imaginary third floor or eating free candy at 3:00am, you're all set.

Good luck applying! :)

Sprial, how many Olin Orphans from your weekend were accepted?

Just curious...I know many Orphans who are at Olin today. Someone should study that...without parents, perhaps you're more likely to walk into CW ready to team up with other candidates.

There may be more Orphans as time goes on, and accreditation comes. As a parent, I wanted to check out this new, unaccredited, unusual school--we did not do a school visit til CW. At my daughter's CW, there weren't more than six Orphans.

CW2 had only 7 orphans. I still wonder what would have happened had I come to CW1.

I think it was 2003 when we had two vans worth of Orphans. Made for a fun weekend of airport runs. :)

Anyway, congrats to all!

Thanks for the tip! Sounds like BECC is where the party's at. Also, congrats to all those that got in. I'm envious of you guys;)

There were a ton of people in the BECC- I'm not entirely sure how many were orphans or how many of those were accepted. I drove, so I didn't participate in any airport runs. Of the kids whose parents were there, it seemed as though they had a better time when they were just allowed to socialize. What I do know, though, is that almost everyone that I hung out with and cared about at the BECC was accepted, and a majority of those enrolled.
