About 10,000 eligible students who were rejected by all campuses to which they applied will be offered admission to Riverside and Merced this month, she said.

In January, the UC regents reduced freshman fall enrollment by 2,300 students, or about 6%, because of what they described as insufficient state funding. UC officials now hope to enroll about 33,000 California freshmen for the coming school year, while increasing transfer students from community colleges by 500, about 4%.

wow are we in the same boat waiting for ucla, and ucb? doesnt look good people.

transfer applications are up 2500 university wide this year but they’re only raising the number of spots by 500.

I just hope those extra 500 enrollment spots are not predominately for OOS & international transfer students.

Why would they be, if preference is given to California community college transfers?

Because OOS and International Students have to pay more tuition plus they get less financial aid. The university makes more money off them then they do off CCC and UC/CSU students.

Yeah, and preference is still given to California community college students, so what’s your point?

well considering the budget cuts, I wouldn’t be surprised if they let in more OOS and International Students thats all. I don’t have any hard evidence or anything…Thats why iceboar says he hopes not all those spots are for them.

^ That is all speculation. The UC’s have never said they will accept more international/oos transfers. This is how rumors get spread around.

are we talking about 500 more to ucla and ucb or all the UC’S? All I know poor freshman they had a very tough year I hope we don’t pay the consequences like they did. I also heard this a while back that they were increasing the applications sure hope we can catch a break and we can get accepted. good luck to everyone!

Cali Trumpet, its not a rumor

several regents are considering bringing in more OOS and internationals because they pay more

they better bring us more too. we deseerve it more. US CITIZENS, naturalized, residents. not them, they’re smart but not from the united states of america. sorry. we have to get priority.

Chesser, that’s a stupid thing to say.

I think we deserve to have priority. Please dont call me stupid, did I insult you? if I did, I am truly sorry. I get too sad easily by people criticizing my opinions.

I think you guys do have priority, right?

Ah, I’m sorry Chesser. I was mean. Pals? :D

krnnoodles, if you look at UCLA’s 2009 admit stats and compare them to 2008 you’ll see that the the number of international/out of state students did not really change.

its ok. are you international student colormeboggled? sorry from my part, I am just so stressed myself with all these admission stuff. I don’t even know what i am saying. there are many people on these forums who really don’t like anything I say. what I just said on this forum wasn’t nice, but on other one’s I have said, wow they just completely hate my opinions. Maybe you know of this, but every time I have started a thread people have completely demoralized me. there was one on monday where I asked how would everyone feel if we get rejected from ucla or ucb? and then I said that as long as we have a university education anywhere we will be fine. we are better off than drug addicts, people who drop out, who don’t take school seriously and wow almost everyone seemed to get upset at this?? it’s not only on this, but on many things I have said. what do you think? anyways, let me know your stats, international stduent? and what schools are you applying to?

^^ are you a california resident?

Chesser, what’s your major/stats, etc? Also, where you are from?

No, I’m not an international student. I transferred to UCLA last year. I just thought about how difficult it must be for international students, when they have to pay more for tuition and have to compete with the people in California to get a spot.

Anyways, sorry I made you feel bad! You should disregard any ******* on this site that tries to make you feel bad (there’s a bunch on the UCLA forums). It’s not like anything they say will affect the admission decisions.

Good luck!

colormebuggled: please tell me if you received an e-mail. if you didn’t can you please give me your e-mail address to send you everything I sent you right now? thanks hope to hear from you soon.
