<p>Don't panic. It's mostly propaganda. They're going to have to send out 10,000 acceptances or more to get the 4,200.</p>
<p>It should actually be around 20,000, being that they accepted 59% of applicants last year. Going by the article, applicants are up by 4,000 which further proves the point that more people are applying to many schools so the yield should be slightly lower. Going by that, the acceptance rate would be around 55% by my guess...not that my opinion is the most reliable. I'm just trying to make sense of the numbers.</p>
<p>average SAT is only 1250, if that makes anyone feel better ..</p>

<p>yeah when I first saw this article I thought it would have to do with the academic strength of next year's class but nah SAT is only 1250 now making anything in the 1200s arguable.. I would have been happy to read that when I applied.</p>
