I'm having trouble with my artist statement for USC. Yes, it's due tomorrow. I've already finished it but I'm not sure if it's that great. Will the artist statement be that important? I talk about my goals as an artist, what I'm currently working and what direction I want it to go in, my artistic inspiration (in terms of other artists, I talk about Jenny Saville and Egon Schiele), my pragmatic goals (like making art for myself while still being self-sustaining and making a living. I also touch upon how I'd like to work in curation in galleries or museums). In the last bit I talk about why I want to go to USC but it's only like 3-4 sentences. Is that enough? The entire thing is only allowed to be 350 words maximum plus I talk about why I would like to go to USC in another part of my application.

Sounds fine to me. My S agonized over these last year during application season. He preferred the wacko essays like /.choose an artist with whom you would want to spend a day…what would you do, what would you talk about…much more fun. Just wrap it up and send it out and celebrate being finished with the application. He likes saville also and it didn’t seem to hurt his application results. Good luck.
