I just got a call from the department head offering me a spot in the bfa acting program at ball state university!

I would wait and see if he gets a yes. I have been able to take my D on many visits because most of her schools were close by. She has only 3 schools she’s still considering that we have not visited. But honestly, I don’t think that visiting made a difference one way or the other until she got the yes.

Oh gosh I hope she’s doing OK. That Tx State NO was hard for my D. She visited last spring and loved it. But it is still on her list to consider if none of her BFA Acting work out financially - she liked it so much she would go to their non-audition BFA T&T which they encouraged her toward as a ‘consolation offer.’

Texas State was tough. That one hurt a lot. It was definitely one she cared about. :sob:

Where does your D have acting acceptances? I hope they work out financially! We are hoping the same for some of my D’s acceptances.

For Texas State, does the T and T track have an option to audition again for MT or Acting? Would she be able to take the classes she wants, be in shows and have access to the training she needs to be successful in this industry?

Are you referring to the BFA Theatre Performance and Production degree? If so, that curriculum is very different than the MT curriculum, with more of an acting emphasis, and essentially no vocal or dance training. You can find a sample curriculum on the TXST website, so if you’re considering this degree, you should check out the curriculum! For that reason, I think it’s highly unusual for a P&P student to be able to transfer into the BFA MT program. That said, all Performing Arts students at TXST can audition for any and all productions. Hope this helps!

First post here.
We are very thankful with life since my daughter’s decision has come to two great schools: BoCo (MT) vs. CCPA (MTD). She really likes both schools.
We would like your kind opinion on what’s the best program to attend

When did you hear from BOCO? I didn’t realize those were out

My D was pretty upset. Her best friend got waitlisted though so she is happy for her. After visiting Wagner this week and seeing a show she can really see herself there. But I know deep down she wishes she could come if the waitlist for BW. That is her dream. Hang in there!

Awe man that hurts!! We made it to round 4 and got the big reject. Our daughter had some tears with that one. The sting passes. I’m sorry.

I was responding to someone else’s comment on that track at Texas State. My D is only interested in MT, so isn’t even looking at other options at any school. But, thanks for the info. I know others are considering it.

You probably want to connect with @NYYFanNowMTdad re:BW Waitlist. His D got off it two years ago, so maybe he has insight into that process and knows how many kids came off the WL in the past two years. I recall that it included different WL communications (priority holds, etc.) over a few month period. Good luck to your D, glad she has an option that she likes!

yes my DD came offt he wait list, I give a fairly detail accounting of how that went down in my final decision thread of 2024. I suggest you read that as it may answer alot of questions & then happy to answer any other specific questions
she just went back to BW today after spring break, be advised the stress continues as they vie for summer stock jobs  but shes loving it!!

Just went back and read your journey. Truly inspirational! My D wrote VB a thank you for the waitlist opportunity. Should we just sit tight? Is there anything else you recommend? ie should she email again in a couple of weeks? Ugh. I feel like stalking tall blonde girls admitted to BW:)

My daughter is thrilled about OCU. We were wondering if your D has any input with regards to dorms to select or if most of the MT majors stay in one particular dorm? We see there are three options. We are headed out to visit the weekend of April 1st but no campus tours are available so we will be taking a look at everything we can pn our own. We love everything we could see online but going in person will allow her to get her feel for OCU much better and me to be a relaxed mom.

BoCo has ED but "“the regulars” (like we were)
won’t hear until close to 4/1.

I think wait a couple weeks unless you aren’t too far and wanted to visit campus. Otherwise they might do zoom info sessions. It’s a hard process no doubt
