I've taken 5 years of Spanish in high school and was wondering if that would fill Marquette's foreign language requirement for a BA degree.

What is their requirement? I’m not aware of it, but I do know that you get retrospective credits for taking Spanish in high school. My Spanish teacher told me that there is some kind of placement test that you take that evaluates where you are at. Depending on how fluent you are, you could get as many as 16 credits from those 5 years of Spanish. I’m guessing that whatever requirement they have would be filled by that.

It really depends on your major, it can be as little as 0, to as many as 14. I came in with 10 credits of Spanish from a dual-credit program at my high school, and I was fine. But like I said, I would contact the department head if you wanted to learn more about the Foreign Language requirement. You take a placement test online in the spring/summer to determine your placement, and if you need to take more credits or not. I hope this helps!
