Just wanted to show photos of the "classroom" for this GE course. Pretty cool.

THAT IS SO COOL! I can’t wait :)

yea i signed up for this as well and yet have no idea what you actually study in it lol

anyone who has taken it know what we’ll be learning or anything? someone said there were some performances in it but beyond that i know nothing haha

its mostly learning about music. some art and paintings and stuff. perceptions about art in history. no architecture.

there will be a performance probably every other day. fun stuff.

the most interesting part of the course is the section of athletes that will probably be there. they will be shouting the entire class, and most of the things they say are hilarious.

For people who’ve taken this class, do we have “mandatory” things in discussion? like quizzes or attendance?

^ it depends on the TA. Most TAs don’t give a quiz

You can actually look at pictures of a lot of classrooms in different buildings.

http://www.oid.ucla.edu/units/avs/buildings

What is the final exam like for this class?

multiple choice exams

[BruinWalk | Professors | R S Winter](http://www.bruinwalk.com/professors/artarc/winter-r-s/)

According to bruinwalk…

“Interesting lectures about all kinds of art, historical facts, his personal experiences, and guest performers. Easy class IF you go to lectures and discussion. Multiple choice MT and final. LOTS of extra credit opportunities. The only real work is turning in five 1-page writeups about performing arts events at the end of the quarter.”

A&A is probably one of the most EASIEST & enjoyable GE class I’ve ever taken in my life… you get to see performances every other lecture. professor winters is pretty awesome… but make sure you write EVERYTHING that comes out of his mouth, haha…

oh and the pics make it seem like the lecture hall is amazing (prob because of the lighting)… it’s not THAT amazing, but certainly nice…

I miss that class :(… enjoy it while it lasts!!!

there are no quizzes in discussion, but attendance is part of your participation grade.

I took plenty of classes in SMB. Some with Jazz greats Gerald Wilson and Kenny Burrell.

For the class, you have to go to 5 performances, 3 UCLA ones, and 2 outside UCLA(Museums, concerts, etc.) which you’d have to write a page report on. Attendance is mandatory in discussions. Tests were all MC and there were a ton of extra credit opportunities.

o gg i thought it was just in class stuff

how hard is it to find concerts or performances outside ucla that are still near campus? i dont have a car or anything lol

well one of them can be going to fowler museum. for the other one just go to a musical or something. you will have to take the bus.
