Arts & Creativity at Princeton

Artsy Ivy - Princeton proves itself a competitor in creativity

Even a brief mention of College Confidential at the end. :)

Note that the Prince has a whole section today full of articles on the arts on campus: http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2006/03/30/arts/

awesome article. thanks for the post!

princeton 2010 is starting to feel so right.. i think this is where i belong.. [mind drift]

That sounds awesome!

The Katzenjammers are amazing.
Arguably Princeton's best a cappella group although the Nassoons crack me up.

Hear some samples.

http://www.princeton.edu/~pukatz/musalb.html

My roommate is a Katzenman. Roaring 20 is my second fave. The co-ed groups are generally very good.

Arch sings are really fun, and I suggest all of you go to one during April Hosting (and hopefully every two weeks or so if you matriculate!).

not surprised that p-ton is artsy and creative. i know 6 people from nj gov school who are going there for the class of 2010 (3 are singers, one's a creative writer, one's a dancer, and the other is an artist (also a talented athlete in football, wrestling, and track). p-ton has a reputation for nurturing artists. if it wasn't for the major i was applying to at cornell, i'd apply to p-ton in a heartbeat.

All the songs sung by the Nassoons are arrangements written by fellow members.

A large number of productions on campus are student-written and student-directed. College: the Musical is the most recent one.

Do they really look for drama/arts people? is that what that article is saying?

yes, they really truly do!

Is anyone here going on Princeton?

sorry! Do anyone here go on Princeton?

I am new right, and im not from the states! So i just hope for some tips or something! may anyone..?

I`m kind of early am i?

an early look at the arts neighborhood that's in the works:

http://www.nj.com/news/times/regional/index.ssf?/base/news-6/1154146089273080.xml&coll=5

what are you looking for?

does this mean princeton will start looking to accept artsy types? (aka i like to write, draw, photograph; my passions but nothing impressive to show for it - yet. how will this translate into the admissions process, per se, when I;m applying :))

You need to show that yours is a developed talent. Students generally do this by including a portfolio, tape, or video; auditioning live on campus; including a resume that reflects study or competition on a state, regional, or national level; writing an essay that conveys a strong commitment to a particular art; or some combination of the above.

D is in class of 2010 as an engineering major. She submitted a CD with two art songs (vocal - all state Alto) and three classical guitar pieces. I have no idea whether that helped in the admission process, but it certainly didn't hurt. She hopes to get a performance certificate in classical guitar.
