Why are there so many faculties at McGill?
Which one is best?
Which one is more competitive for admissions?

Thanks!

yea i was wondering about this

i understand arts+sciences is new.... i applied to faculty of sciences b/c i was sure i wanted to do science and i figured since it was a more established program it would prob be better

but now apparently arts+sciences is a lot more competitive? what is (im assuming?) better about it?

thanksss

I think it's the novelty about it that's attractive, and also the fact that it's almost like applying undecided for some US applicants. I mean, if you don't know whether you want to do arts or science, it would make sense to apply to the faculty of arts and science, because then you could do both and make up your mind. That would be my reasoning. I would have applied there, given the chance.

Arts and Science is by far the most competitive, however they are three distinctly different disciplines, so it's hard to say which one is "best". :)

How are they "distinct?"

It seems like Arts & Sciences would have both arts and sciences, which would mean the program includes more majors (arts majors AND science majors)? Is there any advantage in enrolling in either "arts," "sciences," or "arts & sciences?" Can you change faculties later on during undergraduate years?

Thanks!

inter faculty transfers are possible- and once you're here it becomes a lot easier... so if you're accepted and you didn't get the faculty of your choice you can probably re-apply for transfer and it will be a lot easier to gain entry.
