My daughter is applying to W&M:). On the common app, it asks about whether an arts supplement will be submitted and gives three choices for an answer:

No
Yes
Yes, but submitted via paper

If she is choosing to send in a music sample, should she choose the "yes, but submitted via paper" option?

Thanks!

For W&M, we ask about the art submission on our Supplement to the Common App and the only option is to check that you are submitting one or to leave the box unchecked implying that you’re not. For us, what you check on the Common App doesn’t matter but since you can’t make an art submission to W&M online you can check via paper.

Thanks! As always, we appreciate your input!

Hi, my daughter submitted an arts supplement about 3-4 weeks ago. She hasn’t received an email confirmation that it was received yet. We understand that W&M is busy processing. When should she expect to receive the email? We live in area that very recently has been in the news for having backed up mail at the mail distribution hub. I am wondering if we should resend the supplement by priority mail. What do you think?

The art supplement is optional and we do not confirm receipt of optional materials (there are simply too many to confirm). We simply confirm receipt of 1) a student’s Common App and W&M Supplement and 2) matching that will all other required materials (application fee, transcript and standardized test scores). However, assuming she checked that she was making an art submission on the W&M Supplement (there’s a checkbox for it) she will automatically be processed in our system as someone who made an art submission.
