Arts Supplement - Should I bother?

I'm not applying for a music major, but I do love music and I'm going to include guitar and maybe piano in my ECs. The problem is that I'm completely self-taught in both. My family's finances aren't really that good, so I felt bad asking them to pay for lessons. This basically means that I don't have any accomplishments I could list, only the time I've been playing.

So I was thinking of making a video playing guitar and including it in the Arts Supplement. I'm not too confident about piano, but if I feel good enough with my skills by December I could do one for it too. I just want to show how passionate I really am about music and that I did put a lot of effort into it, even if I don't take lessons.

Is it worth it? Or would the admissions office think it's a waste of time?

It depends on the school(s) you are applying to. My S also did not plan to major in music, but involvement in music was one of his biggest ECs. Some schools he was applying to last year only wanted an arts supplement if the student planned to major in an arts-related area.

The school he applied ED to, and is now attending, described their arts supplement as an opportunity show talent/interest/passion (not just for potential majors), so he did create and submit an arts supplement for them. He is involved in music at his new school, but still not planning to major in it.
