Arts supplement

Does anyone know how many pieces you need to submit for an arts supplement ? This is for applying to a pre med track and not Architecture track.

Look at the website for some guidance https://admission.rice.edu/apply/freshman/freshman-faqs
In general, artwork should be of exceedingly high quality for a supplement to be helpful. Let your HS art teacher or another professional help you to determine if your work is of that quality.

You do not have to submit a portfolio to take art classes, major or minor in art at Rice. Only Architecture majors have to do this to gain admission. Many nonart majors take some elective classes in the VADA department. https://vada.rice.edu. There are some classes like drawing for non art majors, etc.

Some students come into Rice as premed majors and end up majoring in something else. You can change majors easily at Rice and do not have to declare a major until the end of sophomore year.

Rice allows applicants to submit supplemental materials on a powerpoint but does not set an explicit limit on the materials. Choose wisely.
