ArtSci Weekend

Going to ArtSci Weekend today at WashU. Anyone else going this summer?

I was there and I came back yesterday. It was a great fun and I completed registration. I strongly recommend if you haven’t signed up yet. There are a few more sessions left.

What classesa are you taking? Do you mind posting your schedule?

mickymouse33,

Chem (3)
Chem Lab (2)
Calculus 3 (3)
Writing 1(required and assigned) (3)
Focus program (4.5) – This is weird. I am assigned to the third
choice(Women and Science) and it requires to take Intro to gender
class concurrently. that is why it is 4.5 units.

Total 15.5 Units and the schedule has been approved by the advisor and registered. My advisor is so nice and a popiular chem faculty and I am taking Chem course with her.

erkybk,

Thanks so much for the info. My son also planned to take chem, chem lab, writing and wasn’t sure about the elective. Few days back he got accepted to Medicine and Society program and so we are still looking into the program components and not been able to decide completely.

My major is PNP. My schedule is:
Chem
Chem lab
Calc 2
Writing 1
MBB - Focus program
Phii 100

I have 17 credits.
I may drop the Philosophy course.

My problem was that all of the core freshmen courses i could take first semester were only on MWF. My only TuTh class is Philosophy.
I do have some discussion sessions and chem lab on Tues or Thurs.
I have 5 classes on Mon and 4 on Weds and Fri.

onecot59,

I have the same problem and the friends I met during the ArtSci weekend have the same problem because many course are scheduled on M, W, and Fdays.

It seems like Wash U could have offered some A&S Core courses on TuTh. May have helped us get off to a better start.

unfortunately, for the majority of people their first semester of freshman year is mainly MWF. as you begin to take more 300 level courses, you’ll find more TuTh - that’s just how it is. I had 3 MWF classes and 1 TuTh fall of my frosh year (plus a music lesson on Tuesday that killed 2 hours of my day and a recitation on Thursday) and as unbalanced as it seems, it’s really not. At least for me, I probably got as much work done MWF as I did TuTh. I attribute this to the fact that I was more productive during my limited time MWF whereas I got to sleep in TuTh and felt I had more of the day to lounge around. Comparing this schedule to my well balanced Spring one (i had 2 classes everyday, generally 2.5-3 hrs of class daily), I didn’t feel that I was more productive in one than the other - everyone adjusts and makes their schedule work for them
