Thanks for the input. I’ve been slaving over my essays for the UVA app, and I must say, they’re surprisingly good. Hopefully my essays and art supplement will positively influence their decision.

Hm, does it help my chances if UVA often tries to recruit students from my Southern VA school? My counselor told me something about that… Supposedly, UVA reserves spaces for my high school’s students because of our school’s good reputation and tough grading system, but it sounds too good to be true…

where in southern VA do u live?
they probably do that b/c NOVA (northern VA) students at UVA are so overrated.

I’m in the region called the “Southside of Richmond,” or whatever, so I guess you’d call that a part of Southern VA… but hey, I don’t get out much, so I’m not really sure if that’s the official designation for it. My city is surrounded by a bunch of dilapidated and crime ridden ones…but we have a really good, accredited school system here that I’m sort of proud of.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any IB courses or many AP classes, probably because of our small size. I’ve been trying to take the most challenging course load that I can, but it isn’t nearly as intense as the ones that some of you all are taking (10 classes in a day?! :o we only have seven…), so if I somehow do get in, I’ll feel sort of scummy for it…
