Well this fall i will embark on my journey through undergraduate college as a pre-med, and i was thinking that if i dont get into med school i might want to choose osteopathic schools as an alternative. But everyones talking about foreign med schools and how they're so great. And i'm thinking that why take the chance and go to like the carribean and risk residency when there are DO schools in the u.s? am i not right?

I'd choose a DO school any day of the week over going abroad. Having met so many DO's who are residents at my school, I have nothing but good things to say about them.

thanks bigredmed, that cleared some things up

BRM is right, but I don't think he states his point strongly enough. It's not even a close call. Not remotely.

Yeah, I can't overstate how clear a decision it would be for me.

Where I am currently "working" there is a DO, the only obvious difference I've seen is his name tag has DO instead of MD...

Edit: I do not wish to imply they are the exact same degree however, only that employment opportunity is fine for DO physicians.
