As a freshman, should I live on or off campus?

In my area, it would a lot cheaper to live off campus, but should I live on campus for the experience? Is it worth it? Would I miss out on too much if I live off campus?

If many of the students live off campus, then there probably is a pretty lively off-campus scene. Pay another visit to your college/university, and ask about this.

Unless you’re going to a commuter school, I would recommend living on campus freshman year if you can afford it. If the difference in cost is a serious issue, then you should do what you have to to be able to attend.

Some colleges have requirements for 1st years to live in campus housing. You should check w/your target schools

Those where differences were considered statistically significant:

with family or other relatives
other private home, apartment, or room
other campus student housing
other (statistically significant only for 5 and 6 year graduation rates)

Difference not considered statistically significant:

fraternity or sorority house
