As a half asian, is it okay to identify myself just white?

I have heard many times that Asians are held to a much higher standard when trying to get into an ivy league. Im only half asian, so would it be a good idea to identify myself on an application only as white? My name doesn't exactly give away anything else. Will it better or hurt my chances either way?

You can identify yourself however you see yourself: white, Asian, or both. Or you can choose to not disclose your race.

The only admissions downside would be identifying yourself as Asian. I suspect that white, half Asian and nondisclosure are all about equal.

Remember that answering the race/ethnicity question is optional. Having said that, deciding to identify your racial/ethnic background is more than checking a box on an application. You could possibly talk further about your bi/multi cultural background and how it has shaped you personally. Having worked in admissions at Ivy schools, I know that checking a box or not checking a box is not the sole determinant with regard to how your race or ethnicity may have shaped your life.
