As a Jesuit school does Religion play a part in admission?

On the app Georgetown asks about your religious preference, something that none of the other schools I applied to did.

If it does have an effect, would being Jewish hurt or help?

doesn't matter to them.

But I think being Catholic may help? Or is their official policy not to discriminate? Then again they consider themselves Jesuit? But then again Duke is Methodist, and you couldn't tell that from just looking.

is it bad not to list anything? i'm just leavign it blank (i'm jewish)

it's not good or bad. im pretty sure the only reason they ask if for statistical purposes. (it's the only way they can say that 52% of students are catholic.)

i'm jewish and i said so.

ohh gotcha... okay as long as the admissions committee isn't like anti-semitic or something. oh i just realized if i listed nothign they owuld obviously know by my last name haha

Yes, Georgetown believes in white power and hates Jewish people.

The only semi-reputable Catholic school that actually looks at religious affiliation is probably Notre Dame. While Georgetown does have a slightly higher than average Catholic population, this is only due to their heavy recruitment from Jesuit highschools and the statistical majority of Catholics in the average population.

I don't think they even care... Well maybe if two applicants are right on the border and they dont know who to take/ nothing else to compare?
Who knows what goes on the admission's office, but if most of the admission officers are catholic then it might raise a question.
-I think that they might even recruit jews, buddhist, etc to diversify their class.

i'm pretty sure religion takes no part in admission and that there is not religious recruiting.

WAIT-- where on the application did it ask?? i don't even remember if i put it-- oh wait, was it on the personal data form?

well hey im muslim and i applyed, i hope religion doesn't matter, otherwise...

i feel like georgetown has a very diverse campus so i don't think any of us need to worry...

"the statistical majority of Catholics in the average population"
There is no such majority. The US is primarily Protestant. If you meant Christian, then yes, there is a majority.

I didnt know Jesuits WERE CAtholic (thats a JOKE)....trust me at G'Town all that matters is the $

too bad though--i wish being catholic was a plus, b/c i need all the help i can get.

Well eruanneth...we can always say a Novena that you get in. (I am also Catholic)

i've heard being catholic is a huge help

Even if being catholic does play a part in admission, Georgetown prides itself in its diversity...listing that you're a different religion might even give them a better chance of admitting you than if you just don't put anything at all.

I put "none" for religious preference, bc i'm an atheist...i hope they don't think i'll be uncomfortable at a jesuit school or whatever

But remember.. The admission committee looks closely if the student WILL FIT into georgetown.. Maybe being a catholic will help.. I certainly put catholic, and im sure ill fit in
