As a junior wanting to apply for Early Admission,

When exactly can I apply? Also, how early can I apply? I'll have my SAT 1 and 2 scores by June, but that would mean I have to get my recommendation letters and report cards during that year, right? I would be applying without my grades from senior year, basically. I really need to know, so if anyone could help me and let me know, I would be forever grateful! Thank you!

So, you’re a junior who wants to apply early action next fall? (I ask because I am only about 95% that you don’t mean you want to apply while a current high school junior.) You can’t apply before next year’s CommonApp goes online, which is some time in August, but you can apply as early as you have your application finished after that. I believe the actual deadline is always November 1, but I’m not certain. I talked to my teachers in June of junior year, telling them I’d want recs from them, because informing teachers that early was standard practice at my high school. You can feel free to do the same. All early action applications are judged without the grades from senior year.

Thank you so much for replying! So basically I can get recommendation letters and grades and everything else by May 2012? and have everything from the school ready before summer hits? and then I can apply with my recommendations in August with the ones I got in my junior year? Does that make sense?

Possibly. Aka, in theory, yes, but if I were a teacher, I might not be willing to write the recommendation by August. Can you explain to me why you want to apply so early? Are you an athlete expecting a likely letter?

Harvard doesn’t have the EA program anyway. Princeton too DX

Harvard and Princeton announced last year that they were bringing back EA for this year, which they did.

I actually have my principal, my student counselor and my English teacher ready to write me recommendation letters and I’ve maintained a solid 4.0 GPA as of last term. I’ve only got to take my SAT this January 28th then SAT 2 in May, and I’ll have no reason not to apply early. I’m not an athlete or anything, but the prospect of knowing whether or not I got accepted by December 3rd is mind blowing.

Also, do you know if having a sister who used to go there (graduating this year) will help at all? or is that just a hyped up myth?

No but like, why apply by August? You’re going to hear on December 15th or thereabouts, just the same as the kids who apply at 11:59 pm EST on the day of the early action deadline, which I think is usually November 1.

I don’t think siblings give you more weight, but they can help you tell a more compelling story about why you want to go here. So in itself, no, but sometimes the associated factors help.

Really!!! Oh that’s great news!!!
Huh… it’s like Princeton’s following Harvard wherever it goes

Simply so I can relieve myself from the stress. There’s no logical reason I shouldn’t you know? So again, I can apply by August 1st with my grades and everything collected from the school during May, right?

It might be a little tough to do that, because even if your teachers have already written you recommendations, they will still need to upload them to the Common App website. You will most likely need to wait until school starts next year at the very least to talk to your teachers. I suggest you just work on polishing the essays over the summer, and not worry about submitting your app in early August.
