I am planning on taking three AP exams for sure, but two - AP Macroeconomics and AP Government - I am not so keen on taking. My major will not be related whatsoever to economics, social sciences, or the like, so I was wondering if there is any worth in taking these exams? I’ve been accepted to UCB w/ regents candidacy and am fairly sure that I’ll be admitted to LA as well since I was invited for regents. Will there be general education requirements at those two schools (or any school for that matter) that I could avoid taking if I took those AP tests and scored well? I apologize if I’ve posted this in the wrong thread.
At almost any school, AP Macro & AP Gov will most likely get you out of at least one or two general education courses. Both tests have a pretty high passing rate, so I’d say go for it even if it doesn’t pertain to your major! Knocking out the gen ed requirements will let you take more classes in your major. I’m taking Macro right now too and that’s the only reason I’m taking the exam as well. Good luck.
Check the school’s website to see what APs they give credit for and what score is required to get those credits.
If you ever decide to do anything with business (minor etc.) you will need those.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the advice!
