I also wondered the same in regard to top ivy league colleges... considering that some students in my class get high 90's while I get low 90's, and they are obviously ranked higher than me, but I am still top 10% and take toughest courseload. Does this make a difference?

What the hell kind of school gives 86 as an A-?!?

OH Dude, you're screwed. You got an 86!? And... if the college doesn't see your A+ and only a lowly 'A' then you can say goodbye to graduate school my friend.

Seriously, don't let anybody tell you otherwise; grades and SAT score are by far the most important parts of your college application. Not personality or essays or potential or dedication. That's all trash students make up to compensate. Colleges just want brains. You better write to the adcoms to clarify that you got A+'s and not just A's.

I hate everyone.

Whenever I would get just A's my parents would beat me while whispering "we don't love you" into my ear. So yeah, there was a BIG difference in my life between As and A+'s

You too!? But you know... wasn't it worth it? We both got into Duke because of those A+'s... and not the internships we had at NIH (they give those out to everybody)!

You guys, this thread is serious to some people.
My school ranks but our ranking is really weird. They don't tell us they rank, but give our rank to the colleges (one senior figured this out...). But we grade on a 4.5 uw scale and
A+ 95-100 4.5
A 90-95 4.0
... so on. So our ranking differs a lot depending on how many A+s versus As you get, and it's not difficult to get an A, but to get an A+ you have to work really hard. So really, does it count that much?

Hon, we're being serious.

waoh! this thread is getting a bit creepy! (don't ask why! I just am getting a bit tired of this discussion!)

so a B+ is a B. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Got so many B+s sucks, i hate my teachers.

Do you guys think favoritism plays a role in grades?

everything is if you believe it to be, hm...
I guess some teachers there's no denying it, but in general, no.

bump...

Oh so 86 IS bad even if it's A- ;(
damnnnnnn
