as far as gpa, sat scores go, what are some ballpark numbers that make you competitive?

You might look at the website for incoming freshman statistics-go from there

3.8, 1460?

You're SAT certainly doesn't have to be 1460, GPA is about right though. I'd say 1400, maybe even 1370-1380 for competitive SAT. That certainly won't get you in, but it won't keep you out.

will a 640m and 3.7 uw gpa hold me up
should i retake

i have a 650 M, which isn't too different. i don't plan to retake though.

It depends on what your CR score is. I mean if you have a 640 M and 600 CR then you probably won't get in, but if you have even like a 640 M and 690-700 CR you got a chance. Test Scores are important, but once you get within a broad range it really comes down to things like rank, gpa, courseload, ecs, interview, and essays. Lol, I guess everything else.

damn, well...with a 1330 (but 2100!) should i even bother? Come on G-town, jump on the SATs-are-getting-more-meaningless bandwagon.

Unfortunately Gtown doesn't look at your writing score, so 770 on Writing won't count for them.

770M, 740CR, 3.5GPA (10 APs counting senior year, private school)..

760 Math II and 750 Lit.

Is that enough? I know my GPA is way low.

ok i had a 1440 without writing and a 4.41 weighted gpa
my counselor said georgetown might be too hard for me and i went O.o Huh?!?!

but i think she's clueless so dont' feel bad people!!

however i do have a question about the foreign service school
i know its VERY VERY COMPETITIVE (though not sure how much) and i was wondering if my score of 1510 was "good enough"
i know they dont count writing. do i even have any kind of chance of getting in?

thanks~~

i also am applying for the sfs...my sats are lower, but what about act... does anyone have a number for that?

I only have a 3.4-3.5 UW GPA, but I'm in the top 10% of my class because all my classes were very hard/challenging, and many in areas that I might not have excelled in, but interested me nonetheless. However, I have a 1570 SAT, pretty good ECS and godly volunteer stuff. Would all my other stuff kind of balance out my weak UW GPA and give me a shot to Georgetown?

edit: I'm applying to MSB

Ender's game a 1510 would probably beat the average at SFS. It's hard to get into, but not impossible. Rank/GPA plays a HUGE part at Georgetown though. What's your rank?

Andrew Wiggin (I LOVE that book!): When I was taking my tour at gtown, i overheard the receptionist say that the average was a 1380, so I am sure that a 1510 is very, very good. Of course, there is no sat score that makes you a sure-fire acceptance candidate, not even a 1600 (I know that gtown has rejected ppl with scores of 1600), but having a 1510 NEVER hurt anybody.

i reported that im in the top 10% and my GPA is out of 99... (its like a 101 weighted). without a definite class rank, will they still look favorably at taht?
