I’m a high school junior and UGA is my top choice. After recently touring the school and loving it I would like to know more about what my chances are of getting into the school. I will be applying early action so they’ll look at my gpa, rigor of classes, and test scores.
•My unweighted gpa is a 3.7
•My weighted gpa is a 4.7
•I’m currently in 2 APs (bio & psych) and 1 Dual Enrollment class
•My sat score is an 1120 and my act score is a 24 (I know those aren’t good so I’m already signed up for the June tests)
•I’ve also taken mainly academics such as 5 maths, 3 English classes, 3 Spanish classes, 4 sciences, and about 4 social studies (as of my junior year)
Have you calculated your UGA gpa? This is the gpa uga will use and is a better indicator then weighted and unweighted.
Hi greendog24! UGA posts the stats of their latest freshmen class on their website. If you look, you will have an idea if you are competitive. Early action is a number crunch. Calculating your UGA gpa is a good idea. I would try to retake your SAT/ACT if you can and try to pull them up some. Unless you have a hook, your stats are probably a little low for early action. You can always submit an application and if you are deferred, try again during regular admission.
To give you some idea, my son was admitted early action. He graduated from a Georgia high school in 2016. His stats:
- 4.34 weighted gpa
- 10 APs
- SAT 1880 (old test)
- ACT 31
Plenty of his friends did not make it into Georgia but several were bumped to the regular decision pool after submitting early action applications and were admitted. He loves UGA and academically is doing very well. Good luck to you!
My UGA gpa would be a 4.7 weighted and a 3.7 unweighted
