As v A minuses

Hey, I have a question regarding As and A minuses

I'm ending up with:
2 As
2 A minuses
1 B-

in mostly upper level honors courses with a semester GPA of 3.66.

How do you think the A-s will be eval'd? Thanks.

^I obviously realize that they will consider that an A- is lower than an A, meaning that those two grades reflect a lower level. I am just wondering if there is anything beyond that. If this is a really stupid question, then (oops).

well... they factor into your gpa.. and those .33's add up

A minuses are good grades and they probably won't care much...you've still done very well (90%+). I'd be mainly concerned about the B-.

Yeah, screw the B-. It was in a crazy Cal course and I'm not the mathy person. Now I know never to take such courses again =)

dearsiryes... Sorry to hear that Calc did notgo so well. Who did you have for Calc? I had Morgan.

Hey guys sorry for budding into your thread, but i see that you guys are from Texas. I'm fromt California. My parents are planning to move to Texas this summer. I would finish up my first year of community college by then. I was just wondering if you guys can tell me a little about the community college there and the transfer programs..what schools are good for liberal arts. How many public university are there ect. Thanks

the CC system here is pretty similar to Cali...you're not guaranteed admission into schools if you attain a certain GPA or anything, but you receive top priority at public universities. There are quite a few public schools, but the only ones really worth transferring to (if you're able to) are Texas A&M and UT-Austin.

Our CC (nothing special) sends a decent number of people to UT every year. I don't know about A&M. If you can maintain around a 3.7 with a good courseload, you should get into Liberal Arts at UT-Austin.

If you finish your associates degree at a community college, the public school you transfer to is obligated to accept all of your classes - in other words, your classes transfer as a block. This keeps them from picking and choosing.

bel0vef002.. Sorry but I can't help with info. I am a transplant from the NE this past Sept. Parental move as well. The OP and me are at university here in Houston. It might be better to start a new topic, citing where you will be moving to and what type of facility you are looing for. Texas is a hugh state.

Yo diff,

I have Bao for Calc. But, I signed up for Morgan for Cal II next semester. By the way, Morgan is supposed to be crazy good.

I took BC and got a 5, but figured that I would want to take Cal again in school. I should have taken a regular sequence considering I was spending mucho time running (training) for track. Oh well, everything turned out ok.

Re the first post:
I misposted my GPA, it's actually a 3.54, but I just saw my recs which are the best in years type so I think it should be alright. I guess they'll understand that I'm just not the Calc type.

You might want to reconsider taking Calc II. Morgan is wonderful. I sat in on Bao and can say that I am glad I ended up with Morgan. However, he is tough! Lots of problem sets, nearly daily pop quizes, online quizes that will have you nuts, and finally his exams of multiple choice and free response are rough. Oh, and I forgot to mention that he only accepts three adsences, afterwhich your dropped.

Oh beautiful! So did ya enjoy Morgan?

I heard he still is a better bet than Tucker and Blecher...right?

Like I said he is very demanding and you have to be very disciplined or at the least consistent to do well. Yea, I enjoyed Morgan and the A I got. I'm looking forward to next semester with him. I ended up with a 4.0 this semester. I heard that Tucker is good and test wise easier then Morgan. Blecher I don't know.

Congrats on the 4.0. I think I'm going to stay with Morgan. I finished the Cal II HW guide posted online and it's pretty straightforward.

Yeah, about the tests, I think as I did well on Bao's tests, I'll be fine with Tucker. Man...we had 2.5 hour exams.
