Hey guys! I got into Caltech and Duke as a transfer but have to decide within two days.
I am an engineering major from a university in China. I am outgoing and enjoy meeting different people (Caltech seemed small), but Caltech's engineering is SO GREAT. Hard to decide...

Guys if you have any inputs or opinions please reply ASAP, thanks.

If you’re an engineering major, definitely go to Caltech. Caltech is far superior to Duke for sciences and engineering. Plus you get to wear t-shirts in the winter. Plus, unlike Durham, Pasadena is a nice and safe town.

Go to Caltech, it’s way better than Duke in terms of engineering major. Plus, you’ll love California.
btw, what’s your university in China? Beijing or tsinghua?

why are you asking to bump when youve already got like 10 replies and they all say the same thing ? :P

anyway,
i think you should go with caltech. duke is awesome too, but not as good as caltech in engineering and stuff… + caltech is in pasadena, which is nice and its close to LA :)

graduating from caltech with good grades will most likely guarantee you a great job :)

Ok so everyone has already said caltech- and I agree. But, I live in Cali and have been to Pasadena and it is a really nice city. The area is really nice, you won’t run out of things to do, and LA is by it.

Caltech has the more prestigious engineering departments, no doubt, but if you’re looking for the more “authentic” American college experience then Duke, all the way.

I second Kitson, any relation between hot girls and caltech is pretty random…
But, in a more serious manner, caltech is the place for you if you plan to major in science or engineering, otherwise just go with duke. (Then again, if you don’t plan to major in science or engineering you would not have applied here)
