<p>i'm in 8th grade and i'm running for class office of secretary next year. Whenever i ask someone if they'll vote for me, they all reply that if i write a killer speech they will. I really want to win the election. I'm up against a popular girl who was a secretary before, a smart boy who's pretty popular, but lost last year's election when he ran for president, and im up against another girl who is in both honors english and math. Can anybody give me some ideas on what i should include in my speech to make it funny or persuasive? I was thinking about adding some lines from Star Wars, which is a bit cheesy, but i dont know. Thanks.</p>
<p>i think you're taking this a little too seriously. You're not even in high school yet. Don't make your life surround a speech and position that won't take place for many months. This obsession will cause you to be very depressed if you lose ( not saying that you will) especially if you work on it for hours and months. Just chill and enjoy summer.</p>
<p>Oh, actually the first draft of the speech is due on Tuesday. I didn't make myself clear before. Yeah, and the election takes place on June 10th.</p>

<p>but anyway, if i was an 8th grader, I would want the class president to make all my 8th grade fantasy's come true.. just ask them what they would like (vending machiens with nice candy bars? special lunches like an organised takeaway lunch or something- we had those time to time lol)..... and include them in your speech.</p>
<p>Suggest specific examples, not vague. Tell them, with your conections with the higher office, you'll get them this/that (examsples)
If you're not known as the class comedian, don't make it too funny or it'll be lame.
If you are known as the class comedian, make it really funny.</p>

<p>oh. i see. then disregard my previous statements. a movie joke to end may be funny for instance napoleon dynamite or something; just don't over do that. personally, i do think comedy wins elections, so just make it funny. I don't really have many suggestions about making it funny, but yeah just try to make it funny.</p>
