If I showed interest, they would accept me. So, I did and they accepted me. Then I sent them a longgg letter chastising them for yield protection saying that i would rather go to a lowly trade school than go to school that champions yield protection. Their waitlist is 15k people long!) Duke (Trinity)

Rejected by: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Stanford

When I visited colleges, I hated Princeton because it was in the middle of nowhere. I thought NJ was the worst place in America, in my opinion (no offense). I hated Yale because of the campus that was far from everything. Columbia was too busy for me; it just made me angry. I liked the Harvard name, but I really didn’t like the campus. I didn’t like Brown because its small for me. I loved Stanford for all the wrong reasons. I loved it because it is close to my house in Palo Alto. Beyond that the school wasn’t for me. My cousin goes there and she dislikes the atmosphere. Her brother went to Penn and loved it. So in the end, I got into one of my top 2 colleges (Penn, Stanford). I am very excited and I believe that it is the perfect place for me!

God, I hope this helps someone, PM if you have questions

Hey, they need some Asians to bring down the Curve!

I think this thread is sorely needed as an African american. A lot of Asians are rather upset about AA and I wonder if this thread would show whether a disproportionate amount asians are unfairly getting rejected from top schools. As far as I see, asians are getting into top schools easily just not the holy grail of HYP (which I don’t put any stock in anyway)

Carry on.

nil
Thank you for your support!

Do you know any URM who got rejected from every Ivy and Stanford, MIT, Caltech with 2300+ and UWGPA 3.9+?
I am very curious.

I have 3 friends who got rejected from MIT, Caltech, Stanford and every Ivy schools they applied.
They all had 2350+, 800s (or high 700) on SAT subject tests and 4.0UWGPA.

Also, not every Asian is against URMs. (Check my posts. I rarely mention “URMs”.)

“A lot of Asians are rather upset about AA”
I think people have right to voice their opinion. Don’t you think?

I had 770 CR/800 M/790 W; 800’s on Bio, Chem, and Math II. 790 on USH. No glaring weaknesses in my apps.

Accepted: Duke, UChicago, UCB, UCLA, UMich, UNC
Rejected: HYPS, Dartmouth, Columbia, Penn

At my school, the only kids who get into Stanford are mexican or athletes.
One kid i know has a 2100 and a 4.2 gpa and he got into Stanford bc he is mexican

I’m Indian, does that count?

Actually, I do.
Well, scratch that… he got into MIT and will be attending.

Ignorant post is ignorant. He didn’t get in just because “he is mexican”. Have you seen his entire application? Essays? Recs? Are you an admissions officer?
No? Then you have no right to say he got in because he was Mexican.

"I’m Indian, does that count?”

I think so. Aren’t Indians classified as Asians?

“Ignorant post is ignorant. He didn’t get in just because “he is mexican”. Have you seen his entire application? Essays? Recs? Are you an admissions officer?
No? Then you have no right to say he got in because he was Mexican”

I assure you that if everything else about his application was exactly the same, and he checked “Asian” instead of Hispanic, then he would have been rejected.

^Not necessarily. Socioeconomic status is NOT mentioned, as are other hooks.
20more, while I agree with you in the compilation of this thread, make sure it doesn’t turn into yet ANOTHER AA battle.

What sport does the last Asian friend play Jenga?

Comments
It has been a lonely and tough battle to get info and to prep this much in two years of attending a Canadian public school. My GC did not even know what a score of 5 in AP meant Plus, I had language difficulty. I would have been happier if more adcoms had recognized my hard work. However similar we orms might look, the efforts we, as individuals, make should not be ignored.

To future Asian applicants: Do apply to many matches and safeties just as I did. :)

I think that this thread should stay a results only thread. If you want to argue AA, go to that thread and argue away. I do not think Asian students should have to defend having a results thread.
