Asian American = International?

is there a difference between asians born in US or somewhere else during admission process?
Thx

are you a citizen or US resident?
Thats all that matters.

???
how about those born in native countries?
aren’t those neithor US citizens not residents?

are you a U.S Citizen or a permanent resident?

A) if you have a U.S passport, then you are a U.S citizen
B) If you have a U.S green-card, then you are a U.S permanent resident (that would be me)
C) If you have a Visa and/or other documentation, you are an international

If you’re international, then you apply as an international student, if not, then you’re considered the same as any normal U.S college applicant.

And Yes there are significant differences. If you’re an international student that needs financial aid, well… you’re screwed.

If you are an US citizen, then you shouldn’t be considered “International”~~Just my point of view…

Thanks…
so if you are Asian and also US citizen or permanent resident, then you have the same chance as any other racial groups (like Hispanic) in US?
If i (international) don’t apply for FA, do i have same chance or still lesser chance?
thanks again…

NO you do not have the same chances as other racial groups, affirmative action is still in place.

If you don’t apply for FA as an international, your chances are a lot better than internationals that are applying for FA, but still worse than citizens and permanent residents

As I know, many colleges don’t give any financial aid AT ALL to internationals.
And most colleges that practice need-blind policy do so only for U.S. citizens/residents.
So much better to have that green card…

Your race and being international are 2 different things completely.

If you’re Asian and you’re a US citizen/resident, then you’re in the normal applicant pool with the disadvantage of being ORM.

If you’re living outside the US, then you’re an international. Acceptance as an international is harder, ESPECIALLY if you’re applying for aid.

omg
thanks
i guess i will just kill myself…
