I will be applying ED

I went to a private school my freshman year and transferred into a public school sophomore year. Idk if that affects anything..

What are my chances for Upenn?
WILL CHANCE BACK

The problem with applying from a school in South Jersey is that there’s a good chance numbers 1-11 in your class are also applying. And an excellent chance there are oodles of kids from nearby schools applying. This puts you in an incredibly tough pool as Penn doesn’t want a school filled with kids from NJ and the mid Atlantic in general. So getting the CR score up and finding a way to differentiate yourself will be critical.

Transcript looks good except for the 660 on critical reading. If you can bring that up I would say you have a great shot at UPenn for ED.

I’m probably going to end up repeating what the two guys above me said…

Your SAT score is the only major issue. Retake it, and see if you get above 700 on the CR, which would make it much more solid. Don’t report the 4s on the AP. It doesn’t matter too much anyways, but if they get nit-picky, it could hurt you. The other major issue is that you, like me, are Asian (and CC is disproportionately Asian IMHO), so that puts you in a very competitive pool.

As for your ECs, just try and illustrate some focus, so it doesn’t seem like you have a smattering of them all over the place.

Good luck! It’s hard to chance for an Ivy or other top-tier school–unless you have a super-hook, it’s a reach.

Lack of any substantial ECs, coupled with the fact that you are an ORM from the most overrepresented state, means that Penn will be a reach.

If you get your CR score to over a 750, then I think it’s more likely than not that you get accepted if you apply to CAS. However, Wharton may still be tough, as it has about a 7% acceptance rate. By the way, how did you get a 5 on the ap bio exam but only a 660 on the sat ii?

^^^LOL good point.

what is the name of your school. privet m me

Your ECs are a bit scattered with nothing very unique, so it’s going to depend on how you describe them in your essays
