Asian Languages at Harvard

So.......I know it's waay to early to be thinking about these things considering how I haven't even applied to (and dare I say accepted to) Harvard, but as I wrap up my thoughts about the college admissions process before school starts for me in about a week, I've been wondering about language education for some strange reason.

K, so without writing out my entire sob story:
**How difficult are Asian language courses at Harvard? **I'm willing to work hard and spend a lot of time on them. Ideally speaking, I would like to learn Chinese (intensive courses freshman year, continue from 3rd year level sophomore year, and possibly keep going up the sequence), Japanese (beginning sophomore year...I figure kanji will be pretty easy by that point lol), and...well maybe Korean. I speak Korean very well, but like some others, I read pretty slowly and can't really write effectively.

So second, more specific question: Under the assumption that I went to a Korean class that the placement test deemed suitable, would the class be just as challenging as a Chinese/Japanese class, or would it still be easier for someone who reads the Korean newspaper (albeit slowly), watches TV without any problem, and speaks fluently?

AHHHH I don't know why I'm even thinking about this...but I guess this just goes to show that there are more things to consider when you look at such excellent schools....:)

Thanks everyone!

Chinese is known to be very, very time consuming + difficult, especially in the intensive classes.

There’s a Korean course for people like you that speak the language but have limited reading/writing skills… I don’t think it’s that difficult.

Not sure about Japanese.

thank you  I kinda figured… lol
