Asian male aiming for UC/Ivies/some others

Demographics: East asian male from an average sized California public high school.

Intended major: Business for a few schools and undecided for others.

Academics: SAT: 2250
SAT II: 750 Us History, 750 Math II
Class rank: 1/233
UW/W GPA: UW 4.0, W 4.4
Coursework: I took pretty much all the APs the school had and honors whenever possible.
10th grade: AP calc ab sadly our school has no bc(5), ap euro(5), ap chem (3) i had a horrible teacher for this one and probably won’t report it, honors 10th grade english, jazz band
11th grade: ap microecon(5) took class online by myself, ap stats(5), ap us history(5), ap lang (5), ap lit(5), ap bio(5), and honors jazz band

Awards: National AP scholar, national merit semi finalist, honestly not much. I think this may be one of my weaknesses.

Extracurriculars:
-Debate club president and founder/coach of a team for a specific competition (LD debate) since our team only did 1 type before (parliamentary). I did this for 4 years.
-Cross Country Varsity Captain for 1 year, in varsity for 4 years.
-Played piano and got the certificate merit level 10 (basically the highest level) and went to the state convention for all four years and played for the school jazz band for 3 years, with 2 years as an honors class.
-Treasurer of California Scholarship Federation (CSF) for one year and President the next year. I earned like 40 hours of community service as a part of this club running a blood drive, helping homeless, tutoring, etc.
-Manage my own group of 10 volunteers to do a local community service project under a county based organization. I earned around 70 hours, but spent more planning logistics, etc. This wasn’t a school operated thing.
-Did the Bank of America Student Leaders program which is basically a summer of 7 weeks of internship followed by a week of a camp in DC.
-Treasurer of a publications club that successfully published a collection of submissions of art and literature in junior year. I’m not sure if its happening this year, yet as it really started mid November last year.
-Link leader at link crew. Basically volunteer at freshman orientation and then help the freshman adjust throughout the year with events and checkups. I’ve done junior and senior year, since sophomores aren’t allowed to.
-Did an internship at a local business over a semester.
-I attended a 2 week camp at UCBerkeley Haas School of Business, but I’m not sure if its relevant.

I think my recs will be really good. My essays won’t be amazing, but they’ll be pretty good.

Harvard ED

UC Davis (safety)
UPenn
Cornell
Concerns I’m afraid that my ECs are very boring, and that I don’t really have any awards.
THANKS!

I’m not so sure if Davis is a safety for anyone… low match maybe. Get more safeties, look at CSUs. Also, it’s SCEA, not ED.

Oh yeah, I copy and pasted this from another post that asked specifically if it was ED or not!

Also, I thought that if you were top something percentage of your class or if you had a certain gpa as a California resident, you would be guaranteed a spot at a UC. Is it wise to not apply to any CSUs if you are guaranteed a spot at a UC?

@throwaway0407 Oh right, you have ELC. Well, it never hurt to apply to one more safety.

It’s people like you on CC who make me feel like crap. I can’t believe you called your ECs boring… they’re absolutely spectacular. You have so many club leaderships, music, and sports captain position? Those SAT scores definitely won’t hurt either. BTW I don’t think admission offices look at your AP scores.
You have as good of a chance as any qualified applicant! BTW I think you should have more than one safety…

Harvard ED- reach
Columbia- reach
Northwest University- high match
MIT Sloan- reach
Stanford- reach
UCBerkeley- high match
UCLA- high match
UC Davis (safety)- low match
UPenn- super reach if Wharton
Cornell- low reach
