Boston university not college

Great GPA and scores. Your weakness is your ECs, which aren’t all that bad anyways. I’d say a pretty good chance of admission to some of those schools. However, a lot of those are reaches for everyone, especially the Ivy Leagues and Johns Hopkins too.

I would say no through to UPenn, after that, who knows? You’ll have a good app though!

@HRSMom i agree with you, but what reason do you say this

Great stats, but ORM engineering major applying RD makes it very tough at those ivies and other tippy top schools.

The no? Only bc they reject everybody!!

And by “no”, I just mean, expect a no…again, bc they reject everybody! I think your odds at UPenn on a pretty decent.

@Chris817 :

A lot of people even with perfect test scores and 4.0 GPA get rejected. It’s somewhat of a hit or miss.

As far as your chances at HYP/other Ivies- you have about as good of a chance as the admit rate. There are a lot of people just as qualified as you are, but you have a shot.
Johns Hopkins and Northwestern- Again, probably as good of a chance as the admit rate, same as the above, maybe a little bit more likely to get into these
Your chances at Tufts, Syracuse, BU, NYU, etc. are great. You’re a qualified applicant, with a great SAT score and a good GPA- make yourself stand out in your essays and you’ll be fine.

Also remember that when you ask about your chances at top schools, it’s always a reach for anyone, so don’t stress! :slight_smile:

thanks to all of you! btw how important are essays. I’m fairly confident that it is good, as i had a harvard news editor read it over and said she loved it! that was the best news I’ve heard.

Essays? They say very important. I don’t know though. Many of the “essays that worked” that I have read are frankly uninspired. But, you just need to “connect” or be remembered by that one person who will fight for your app! Good luck:)

@HRSMom i feel the same way. some of the essays are amazing but the a lot of them are pretty standard, especially the ones for JHU

Your extra curricular are “weak” and I put quotations on that because those are solid activities however with the competitions these days it doesn’t necessarily stand out.

I’m a Korean middle class male like you, currently a freshman in college you seem to have a stronger application than I do and I got into some of the colleges you are applying to so don’t fret too much!

@thecoolboy1234 if its not too much to ask, can i ask where?

@thecoolboy1234 Oh yeah, I guess I don’t really mind. Uhh out of the colleges you listed I got into Northwestern and BC got rejected by HYP, Columbia, waitlisted but ultimately rejected by Upenn. I didn’t apply to any other school that you mentioned above so I’m not sure about those schools.
