asian sororities

My goodness... sense of entitlement? Try to do that by tomorrow? LOL.

jesus christ people what don't you get? Rush a fraternity/sorority where you like the guys/girls. If you like the people and could see yourself becoming friends with them, rush there. If you don't right them or it doesn't feel right then don't? This isn't rocket science....

what is the general reputation of phi sigma rho? it'd be great if others can voice their opinion about them. the prob is they seem like they are a fit for me online (exception: moldau's comments) but i haven't been to their events yet! not until nxt wk. why is there this sorta deadline?? so soon!

Then wait for the events! Everyone is in the same boat. What would it matter what other people on CC (the 20 or so regulars) think of it if you fit comfortably with the girls? What difference would it make? If we called them slutty and gross , don't you think you would think close to the same thing if you met them during rush?

I think they want the fee now so that the sororities have an idea of how many girls are seriously interested. It helps them plan for rush. Pay it, go to rush and see what you think. If you don't end up joining a sorority, think of it as the cost of entertainment like going out with friends, or to a movie or a ballgame. I think they try to make rush sort of fun.

It seems like you do want to rush, so just do it.

Don't wait for others to validate your decision.

nvm i wanna go to the multi interest sorority..the science/engineering one. that i hear is not panhellenic. does it have fees too? i messaged one of the contacts but she hasn't responded regarding the fees. i hope there's no deadline i missed.

i'm talking about phi sigma rho

How about testing out the ones you are remotely interested in so that you don't have any concerns about whether or not you rushed for the right sorority? To erase any doubts? As for fees, unless you are 100% sure adamant about being in this sorority, which, by the way, you have had no personal contact with and experience with in terms of rush, then it is up to you in terms of firstly, understanding the monetary commitment, and secondly, but more importantly, investing your time and energy into the organization. It is not just any "club" or "organization." They will reiterate this point. Otherwise, why would they conduct a rush anyway or a "weeding out" process?

In general, dawritingmachine, I'm not sure if you are just over-stressed and worried about jumping into UCLA or if you just have a lot of questions. I've noticed that a lot of your queries consist of things that are easily Googleable or things that are up to you to decide. While CC is a great resource (for the most part), I think a lot of the stuff you've asked or worried about should be either approached at the correct time after personally testing things out (instead of asking strangers about what you should do) or just seeing how things work out in fall quarter and if you can handle what comes your way... and then adjust accordingly.

Best of luck!

thanks. i might need the luck! ;)

i wish i could join a sorority...

what is the reputation of thetas and chis

chis seems like a lot of fun. i know 2 girls in XAD. chi > theta.

i think the common saying goes like this: “chi-s to bed, thetas to wed”
