Seriously I'm white and I DON'T CARE IF YOUR ASIAN OR NOT. I'm going to judge you on how you treat me and it's really not a big deal at all. I don't see why people make it out to be. Honestly NOBODY CARES.

hahah im one of those stereotypes . im the white washd asian hahaha only diff is that i am heavily involved with sports and community service...also get pretty good grades... well good overall but for an asian not that great.. ( 3.5)

I've been called a chinaman, multiple times (too bad i was born in the US).. I don't think they meant it, at my school, minority is a joke. really, you just have to take it and whatever

What's with the slit eyes joke? or if your parents own a chinese restaurant? or if you eat dog? seriously, they stuff is getting old...

Like everyone's already said, just be yourself and be comfortable with who you are. People will be more accepting of you if you're not trying to be something you're not (that's just obnoxious). If anything, just be as classy as possible.

1.beauty and intelligence isn't conflictive
2.makeups is bad for your skin and won't make you more beautiful and is not porportional to social ability.
so there dont exist any extremes... just be happy with urself

These posts might go in one ear and out the other because it's stuff that we've been hearing our whole lives, but it's all true. Don't force yourself to be a certain way, just be natural and hang out with people that you like! :) Stereotypes are funny, because they're just superficial. Getting to know people will help overcome them.

Lol, I'm pretty white-washed... I curl my hair, love lip gloss and nail polish, am illiterate in my "mother tongue", and do consistently better in the humanities than in math/science. But then, I get high grades, like manga, and am slightly less athletic than your average lantern post.

So... False dichotomy?

I'm classified in my own one-person stereotype. Thats how cool I am.

Hope your not a guy lunar_years.

Haha, I hope so too.

Jk. Totally female. XX.

Maybe you should move somewhere in the US thats like, normal. My school is super diverse and the only racism you'll get is the anti-white people. But whatever, it's the white kids who take honors classes so we don't have to deal with the racist people.

I don't understand why people still see stereotype as good or beneficial.
Stereotype is not an invention of our own nor is it a natural generalization of things. It ignores you as an individual. Stereotype in U.S today has been refined to the degree that all aspects, I MEAN ALL ASPECTS, of asian american lives have been coined as stereotypical. You be a good student, you are stereotypical dorky fob; you be badass, you are stereotypical gansta fob; you go around and dress good, you are twinkie, i mean ***.
This is insane, kay? We asians are hard freaking workers because we support extensive family, this is our cultural trait! Why don't we label white as stereotypical this or that while labeling asians and other minorities as stereotypical this or that? This is precisely because stereotype is the last remnants of racism, it desperately tries to claim its legitimacy by saying: "Okay, you asians behave like this or that stereotypical way." While every ways a normal ASIAN should behave have been claimed as stereotypical.
I think stereotype is a really cheesy way to inform white of our inferiority by saying all asians behave like bananas, fobs, etc. etc. as if we asians are predictable robots programmed by white dominated american society to be behaved like stereotypical this or that.

If we ignore stereotype as a problem, racism will remain in american society, and us, asians will be massacred like Jews...okay, this is a little extreme, but ya get the point, kay?

What makes you think you have to be either one Asian stereotype or the other? Two of my good friends are Asian--both of them are extremely smart but also pretty, fashionable, and well-known as well.

hahaha a couple of weeks ago my guitar teacher was telling me that my technique was really good, but I have no rhythm

I was like damnit why couldn't I be black?

way to be a bigot lol

azn power. wa ta ta!

Um...you frighten me.

stereotypes exist because there are such things as, as you've said, cultural traits. I personally find stereotypes to be fine, especially since most people are willing to consider others as individuals, while, at the same time, laugh at stereotypes. If certain behaviors are cultural traits, then it's fine to assume most people of that culture possess said traits, hence...stereotypes.

Start loving some Avenue Q. "Everyone is just a little racist sometiiiiimes..."

OP- you should probably get to the root of the problem..

Seriously, as a white person, I can honestly say, no one in Indiana hates asians, well maybe some people do. But seriously, I have never met anyone who hates asians. Your just being paranoid.

i love dancing asians..
