Asian with a low score (less than 2200)

If I am an Asian with SAT score of 2190, do I have any chance at any Ivy?

with typical/average ECs (music, volunteering, school clubs)

Let’s pretend race isn’t an issue(which if the school you’re applying to is like any other in the country it will be). If you look at the current 25th percentile for Harvard, the average is about 2100. I don’t know if you wanted to go to Harvard, but just based on the numbers, you seem to be in decent range. Just even it all out with some extracurricular and a good essay and you’re chances are looking good. Remember that while grades tend to help, it’s about who you are as a person that colleges care about, whether that shows in grades or in what you do outside the classroom.
I’m heading to NYU in the fall, so if nothing else that’s always an option.

thank you. must feel great knowing where you are headed already.

I’m just hoping for U Penn. that’s all. HYP is merely a dream :(

It really does take a load off when I already know. But NYU was a dream to me. I even said it in my essay. If you really want to go to a school, there’s nothing wrong with trying.
