When your in the 99th percentile for the SAT your stats arent “Subpar”

Like everyone else said, maybe you could try and improve your CR score. Maybe trying to read more would help? If you brought that one score up, your SAT score would be phenomenal (not that it isn’t good already). But you still have awesome scores and ECs! Good luck with everything!

So okay…if everyone with your scores and above (99th percentile) and ONLY those people applied to the top colleges, that would still mean 15,000 kids would be applying. So you are still going to need to work VERY hard to get what you want. I don’t think Tufts is such a reach for you, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Of course, the elusive 2400 only comes to 300 kids for every 1.5 million testers. So…if you really want to be in the upper echelon of SAT takers, aim for that point. :)

Tufts University (ED; legacy)–I think you’ve got that, I would say high match, it could deff happen.
Carnegie Mellon (legacy) - will also apply for ECE in CIT-match
Cornell University-high match
Johns Hopkins University-low reach
University of Chicago-low reach
MIT (haha. not getting in.)-reach
Boston University-safety
U.Mass Amherst-safety

I absolutely hate reading, which might be why my CR score is so low. I primarily depended on sparknotes for my English classes. :P

@refulgent
Well, my math and science grades in school are relatively bad. For some reason, it’s not too difficult for me on standardized tests.

I’ve been doing critical reading practice exams, and my score only improved to the 640-660 range. Maybe someone can provide some tips besides reading? :x

Tufts (ED, legacy): most likely in
Carnegie Mellon: match
Cornell: low reach
Johns Hopkins University: low reach
University of Chicago: reach
MIT: extreme reach
Boston University: in
UMass Amherst: in

I’ve been taking practice tests for both the SAT and the ACT from the official books. I don’t know if I’ll get these scores on the actual test but would these help my chances? I don’t think senior year is enough to make that much of a difference.

SAT
CR: 710 - 740
M: 760 - 800
W: 680 - 750 (essays scored by parents)

ACT
E: 34-36
M: 35-36
R: 26-31
S: 35-36 (seems like a random and pointless section)

LoveOnMe, I feel extremely insulted. Your stats are NOT subpar. I am Asian and I have a 3.2 UW GPA, and 1930 SATs, and I am very happy with myself. If you think your stats suck, then maybe you need to get a life outside of academics.

I only meant my stats are subpar for the colleges I’m applying to. As you can see how people have chanced me, they are generally my reaches.

I’m sorry that you feel insulted.

I guess it’s time to bump
