Asians at a disadvantage in college admissions?

We have a harder time getting in because we are just too good compared to the other races on average. :)

@3lite- i think many people today favor affirmative action based on social/ economic background over race so i agree with you.

to OP, yeah- you have a “very real problem”? really? i mean, i think every asian is facing the same problem but you don’t see the majority of them running around complaining- why? because there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. basically, you’re just looking for proof of something that you know exists. what is the point? i think you should just chill out, send in the apps and let it whole thing go its course.

“We have a harder time getting in because we are just too good compared to the other races on average.”

I would say that only Jews could even attempt to make this silly claim, although I wouldn’t say it is a race. There are fewer Jews on this entire planet than the metropolitan population of Shanghai.

California’s Prop 209 (I think) bars UC schools from discriminating based on race (not just affirmative action, which completely ignores Asians).

As a result, Asians in the UC school system represent 20-30% of the population, as opposed to much lower percentages elsewhere.

Just goes to show that if quotas weren’t placed on Asian applicants, the number of qualified students getting in would rise. Yay Cali?

Yeah, it’s not that they’re racist, it’s that they want to limit the numbers of students thay accept from certain races.

Actually, some do. There are some statistics for African-Americans, I’m sure there may be some for other groups as well.

just simply don’t report you race! :P
