Asians at LACs

Many LACs that I have been looking at such as Middlebury have a very low Asian population when compared to ivies. Would Asians have an advantage at LACs?

Yes, if the universities are looking to increase ethnic diversity, we do have a very good shot.

Yes, Middlebury would be a good choice for Asians, especially if you’re an Asian male.

Yes, many LACs consider Asians URMs and include them in diversity weekends and other recruitment efforts. Your chances at a LAC will likely be greater than at a research university.

I am an Asian male with the typical ivy league applicant stats. Would my chances be greater at williams, Amherst, swartmore and middlebury

I think your chances will be greater at those top LACs than Ivies. At least you are not ORM at those schools.

I had better than average stats and I applied to 3 LACs.

Carleton: Accepted (Visited and Interviewed)

Middlebury: Accepted (Did not visit but Interviewed)

Swarthmore: Waitlisted (Visited but did not interview: Forgot to request an Interview)

Amherst: Applied for Diversity Weekend and denied. Did not apply.

Williams: Did not apply

Apply for diversity weekend programs to show your interest.
Good luck to you.
