siglio your points are extremely ignorant. So basically you are saying what holds back other groups is that they whine about being discriminated against?

You need to do some serious reading my friend.

^heck no…what i’m saying is that asians don’t care about discrimination when they should, which ironically allows them to assimilate better…it doesn’t create a big advantage (and shouldn’t), but it is a factor

I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal. I mean, good lord, what’s wrong if there is a 45 percent population of Asians at California schools. It’s a bit refreshing, because in high school out of 140 kids I was the only Asian kid (South Asian; there were no East Asians). I didn’t complain constantly about how there was such a large population of Whites. I mean, these are just the first schools in the country where the number of minorities equals the number of whites.

^ the US cares about demographics, simple as that, for ANYTHING US RELATED, what race or ethnic background u come from is important… don’t really know why, it leaves room for segregation and such

dude, You got to Mexico there isn’t a place u have to put your ethnicity ANYWHERE ON ANYTHING (and mexico has chinese people, jewish people, white people from europe-descendant, mixed people, brown people, black people, etc.)

You go to Chile

same thing, no forms ever say “Please state your ethnicity-even if it’s for statistical purposes” <----*** does that mean? am I just a stat?

F that!

But yeah, the USA is the only place I’ve ever been where most forms require to state what ethnicity you are… I’m cool and I always bubble Hispanic/latino, Spanisn, Asian/pacific islander and “other” and write in Jewish

There’s plenty of people of Asian descent who post on the UCSB forum concerned about the large amount of white students at the school, so people do care.

Not really true.

The biggest groups of HKers went to Vancouver and Australia.

Otoh, Jewish students aren’t.

hmom, it’s called hard work. You sow what you reap. That’s the way it should be.

siglio, please do not spread falsehood by claiming that Asians do not care about discrimination. That’s just counter human nature.

I think at most if not all UC’s( top UC’s) Asians are the dominant race. Some of the Asians I know at my school would like to attend the UC’s due to a larger feel of the type of atmosphere they may looking for.
