Asians = still URMs at some top colleges?

<p>Exactly - never mind Asian-Americans (esp. those who aren't recent immigrants), but there have been a no. of articles where foreign students from Asia have joined their school's football team, etc. in order to gain the "American experience".</p>

<p>Could be, but so could being a male or female, or coming from another part of the US, or having an underrepresented religion, or being an older student, or a first generation student , or a legacy, athlete, musician, or NMS. It depends on the school and what they are looking for.</p>

<p>By and large outstanding grades and test scores combined with interesting looking activities make for the best hook. The first two are especially true at state schools.</p>
