Aside from UC Berkeley

Where else did you apply?

please indicate the schools that have turned your application down too, if possible. Thanks. :)

I’ll bite first:

Where I applied and got in:
University of Southern California
UCLA
UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Barbara
UC Riverside
A bunch of Cal States, I can’t even remember anymore.

Where I applied and did not get in:
UC San Diego

If you ask why no out-of-states, 9/11 just happened, and a lot of people were scared to apply out of state at the time, due to the prospect of plane flight. But that’s a stupid point. I went to Cal, I have a Cal degree, which may or may not be worth the paper its printed on, time will tell.

well im a second year at Cal now…

applied and accepted:
UCB
UCLA
UCSD
UCD

applied and rejected
Harvard U

applied and waitlisted…then rejected
Stanford U

accepted: UC B, LA, SD, I, some small colleges in midwest, TCU being most memorable b/c they offered a scholarship…but uhm lol.

rejected: cmc, yale (i didn’t even want to go, so that was a ??? moment) rice

waitlist reject: stanford

Honestly, should have tried harder on all my essays, especially the private school ones. instead, i wait till the last day (they all luckily had different due dates iirc) and pulled essays out of my ass. One of the biggest regrets in my life thus far. lol
luckily UCs are so either or (good app/bad essay=pretty much yes or decent app/good essays =more than likely yes)

Applied to:
UCB
UCLA
UCSB
UCSD
UCD

Got into all and am now here…so yay =)

Applied and in:
Berkeley
UCLA
UC San Diego
UC Davis
USC
Vanderbilt

Reject:
HYPMS

Accepted: UCB, UCLA, UCI, USC, UCSD
Rejected: UCSD (from Bioengineering only)

I only applied to UC’s: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, etc… all for various engineering. Accepted to all, now I’m here at Cal. Sometimes I wish I’d followed my buddies to UCSD…they seem a lot happier there. And I got in for bioE, too. Meh, not a rant for this thread.

3rd Year Cal Student:

Applied to (and got into): UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, University of San Francisco, Dominican University

Well that’s great you guys all got in to some great schools. I’m planning to go to a UC, and one of my best friends from elementary school wants to go to UCSB. However, her gpa is 3.5 Weighted, 1800 on sats, 700 on sat 2 lit, and 630 math 2, 650 us history. She is very smart but her health basically ruined her sophomore year, and her grades went down. She has amazing EC’s, that stand out, and wrote a damn good essay. What do u guys think her chances are?

For the Freshman Fall 2007 application cycle, applied/accepted to: Cal, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, and a whole bunch of Cal States (I don’t even know why since I already had guaranteed admission to Davis b/c of ELC). I couldn’t afford privates and OOS schools. I don’t remember what major I listed but I probably stated “undeclared” or one of the social sciences.

@JazFizzle: Her GPA is significantly lower than the UCSB admit average (~4.0-4.05 weighted?). I’m not sure if her personal circumstances, decent SAT scores, and amazing EC’s would remedy that. It depends on how convincing she is in arguing about the impact that her health has had on her academic achievement. But who knows, college admissions can be pretty unpredictable. Good luck to her.

Admitted: UCLA, UCSD (Regent’s scholarship too :/), USC
Reject: Stanford Early App, Harvey Mudd (Waitlist)

Didn’t want to apply out of state, thought USC was too conservative, didn’t care for Stanfurd or Caltech, so I just applied to 5 UCs (here, LA, SD, D, and I). Got in everywhere (though spring admission here)

Only applied to 4 schools: Cal, UCLA, UCSD, and UCI. Rejected by UCLA (my top choice).

Applied: UCLA and Cal
Accepted: UCLA and Cal

Applied: cal
Accepted: cal

so, most Cal students are cali-centric. lol

Hell I would go international if I had money. Otherwise, I can barely stand the weather here at Berkeley. I want mah SoCal cool breeze winter.

Accepted:

Berkeley
UCLA
UCSB
Cornell

Rejected:

Harvard
Stanford (waitlist)

Columbia, U of M, USC, Northwestern: Accepted
Picked Berkeley
