Everyone's doing it, so I figured why not. I really like it so far. I noticed that there was some conversation on Berkshire in the forums, so if anyone has any questions just leave 'em here and I'll get to them asap.

How do you like Berkshire? What are your most and least favorite things about your school? Thx!

Berkshire has been great so far. What I like most about Berkshire, although not very unique among prep schools, is the engaged and hard working student body. I am more motivated, myself, because all my friends have the same drive to succeed. Another thing that I love about Berkshire is the large community feel that the school offers. Its small size (around 400 students) allows student relations to flourish. Being a freshman, I assumed that none of the upperclassmen would pay any attention to me. But to my surprise, they all have been super friendly, and I don’t feel like such a new kid. All of the student leaders do their job in making new students feel welcome.

As for the second part of your question, I cannot answer quite yet, because I haven’t been here long enough to develop any negative things that I feel strongly about. I’ll be sure to get back to you on that question in the coming months, when I am here longer.

Keep the questions coming, I’d like to help anyone out who is in the stressful position I was in at this time last year.

prepsch00l- How is Berkshire’s Advance Math/science research? Are juniors and seniors the only ones to participate in it?

what would you say about Berkshire’s campus?

Leminte - I know of numerous high-preforming students participating in science research. But I’m not positive of the details. I know that they have a math and science research course: [Berkshire School: Advanced Math Science Research](<a href=“Page Not Found”>Page Not Found)

Plainjane: Berkshire’s campus is absolutely incredible. One of the best out of the many prep schools I’ve seen. All of the buildings have been newly renovated, and right now they are nearing completion of the new Math and Science Building, which sits adjacent to Berkshire Hall - the center-point on campus. If you have not visited, and are interested in the school, I highly suggest you check it out, because Berkshire’s campus is absolutely beautiful. The surrounding environment is really what makes it such a special place. It is at the foot of the 2nd tallest mountain in Massachusetts - Mt. Everett. There are many hiking trails throughout the mountain, which provide a nice ‘escape.’ Also, the campus itself is meticulously maintained.

BTW Leminte - I searched ‘research’ in the searchbar on Berkshire’s site, and I found a ton of info.

thanks also, would you say that the kids in school are really happy to be there and are motivated? just asking this because it’s one of the things I don’t like in my public school, that everyone is smart but they all have bad attitudes when learning.

Yes, Berkshire accepts kids who are smart and motivated students. Most kids who attend Berkshire, actually want to be here - as most parents wouldn’t send their kids to boarding schools if they had poor attitudes. In order to succeed here, you must be willing to put the work in. Of course there are some kids who don’t really apply themselves, but they are the great minority here.

Bumping this up yo

How are the athletic teams at Berkshire. Is it difficult to make the teams such as lacrosse and basketball. Does everyone get to play ? How do they perform during the year?

prepsch00l - thanks for doing this! It’s said that every school has its own culture & personality - how would you describe Berkshire’s? Who ‘fits’ there …and who wouldn’t?

How’s the work load - light, heavy, just right? Are the teachers interesting, interested, & supportive?

What other schools did you consider & why did you choose Berkshire?

Thanks!!
