Ask a BU Freshman

who is telling you that cgs is competitive? it’s not nearly a competitive as the other schools! you have the 1900 sat right? your fine. stop worrying. thts a little below the average applicant for CAS. call the school to see if you can take the Jan- I don’t think you can because you won’t get the scores till feb.
also semester grades are sent by your school if they do it. I know mine automatically sends them.

SuperHenderson,
It’s really impossible for any of us to predict your financial aid specifically. It depends on too many factors, especially since BU puts weight on both financial need and academic merit. However, BU often gives grants that cover over half tuition without a specific scholarship. Other half-tuition and full tuition scholarships (ie Trustee/MLK) have specific applications/deadlines and are very competitive… but you can still get a grant, which is basically the same deal, without those.

umm laurenrp cgs is my dream school!

sat4lyfe,
the important part to focus on your application is definitely the ECs. hope you wrote a great essay and had good recommendations. bu focuses on more than just academics and are looking for well rounded people. i’m also an eagle scout and i’m a little disappointed that you’re not more proud of it! it’s not just an “ok” EC. it’s fantastic. only 4% of all scouts even achieve that! best of luck on your admissions. hope to see you on campus next year :]

actually only 2 % are eagle scouts go check the stats haha
same her man same here
BU is my dream school

bumpppppppppppppppppppp

bump

bumpity bump bump bumpity bump

CGS CGS CGS CGS CGS 4 LIFE
CGS 4 LIFE YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

what is the CGS? sorry if i sound really stupid for asking haha

[General Studies Boston University](General Studies)

I’m really confused why cgs is your dream college at bu. you have to transfer to another college after two years anyway. your stats are above average for cgs especially your courseload. idk I’m feeling some serious ■■■■■■■■. especially if you say you applied to Brandeis and Emory.

^
im not ■■■■■■■■

i also have an important question to ask

does CGS look at senior year grades

or the mid year report

i just wanna go to CGS its still boston u whats the the biggie?

its not as easy as u think lauren
i bet some kids will have 2000’s and 4.0s

I applied to CGS and was wondering if accepted and decided to attend- along with taking the university requirement courses can I also take pre-law requirements? I’m currently debating between my majors of poli sci and econ or IR and econ.

same question as cool breeze i wanna do poly sci and prelaw

same route as him

I was wondering whether SMG is competitive. I declared my major to Entrepreneurship in SMG and although Im a little confident, Im a little skeptical at the same time.

thats why u shuda applied to cgs directly bro

Yea but i believe that my major hopefully isnt that popular (still want to do it) compared to other majors like engineering and art and science majors. I also heard that its kinda hard transferring to SMG after two years in cgs but I might be wrong.

skazu27: Apply to SMG, not CGS. SMG is more competitive than other BU schools but it’s worth it. You’d never get the full experience by transferring into SMG, and as you’ve said it’s not the easiest transition. You don’t declare a concentration (i.e. Entrepreneurship) until junior year so it doesn’t really matter which one you choose on your app.

some people arent as smart at fail in highschool

so SMG is hard

idk if i can even get into CGS im failing senior year

I’m at freshman at BU as well…

sat4lyfe…you don’t WANT to apply to CGS. While you may think it’s the best choice for you right now, it’s really not. CGS is where all the kids who get rejected for their desired college within BU go. It’s quite redundant to apply to CGS directly, since chance are if you don’t get accepted at SMG, they’ll just take you into CGS anyways.

CGS is really limiting when it comes class choices. You’re basically going through 2 years of pre-determined classes. You only get one elective a semester. Also, I hate to say it but CGS kids are the butt of many jokes at BU. They are generally made fun of and I have to admit it’s kind of embarassing when I ask someone what college they’re in and they answer CGS. A common joke at BU is that CGS= Crayons, Glue, and Scissors.

So trust me when I say this…just apply to SMG directly.
