I know me too. I’m just trying to get into the right housing

Hi! I really really want to go to Howard I have a 3.4 now but I’m a junior so it will be a little higher, I haven’t gotten my SAT results back. But anyway I heard that you have a better chance of getting in if you apply early…it that true. What are some scholarships that are for freshman at howard??

Has anyone from New England received anything from Howard University yet?

Hey everyone. I’ve been accepted, fall 2011!! Class of 2013! But like alot of you guys I’m still waiting on scholarship info. I NEEED that transfer student scholarship. I already checked it out and I qualify. But the financial aid office said that doesn’t necessarily mean that I will get a scholarship. I’m so worried. Does anyone know anyone who has received that scholarship yet? Or even in past years? What was their gpa? thank you
ps mine is 3.6 and sat was 1200/1600 0r 1750/2400

@whittiest What’s Up! I also was accepted for the fall 2011 as a transfer student and Class of 2013 as well. I’ve been in contact with the financial aid since December regarding that scholarship because that’s the only way I can go. Ms. Smith also told me until the end of April but I already have paid my fees as well. It’s been real hard getting in contact with the right people regarding the scholarship but I’ve sent them all my credentials and everything. Where are you transferring from?

@Bhamp09
I went to hampton my freshman year and then transferred to FAMU sophomore…hate famu, loved hampton it was expensive. I discovered howard’s scholarship for transfers and thought, why not? :D

@whittiest
WAIT!! IS THE WHITNEY THE CLARINET FROM HU FALL 2009???..What’s Up!! This Branden that played trumpet at Hampton lol Yes. I transferred as well fall 2010 to Georgia State University and will be transferring to Howard in the fall of 2011 for their communication program and the B.E.T network internship.

I thought that was you. Branden Hampton. Yea. Wow, small world.

Yep do you know when they are sending out the notifications for the scholarships?

Umm no but that’s crazy man. I’m totally blown. I hope we both get it… hope I’ll see you there in the fall how have you been? you going to audition for a band scholarship?

Things have been aight I was having trouble with the schools I applied to before because they were NOT accepting Hampton’s credits like NCAT, Jackson State, and Tennessee State smh…They only took 3 out of 33 credits at first and still sent me acceptance letters smh…As far as band I’ve already been up there to Howard audition but still deciding whether I want to do it again…So I’m in a tie between Howard and Famu as far as band because they are the only 2 that accepted ALL my credits including Ga State which I am at now. But yea hopefully I’ll be there Fall of 2011. What’s your major?

Hello all future Bisons! I have a few questions about H U before I go there this fall. Does anyone know the score you have to get on the AP exams so that the credits can transfer over? I’ve heard that you should get 4’s or 5’s, but sometimes they take 3’s. Can anyone affirm/deny this? I’m taking about three tests this year, so I really need to study.

Also, for the medical forms you have to fill out, there’s one for the health professions and non-health professions. Which one do you have to fill out if you’re in the college of Arts&Sciences?

And has anyone heard back from H.U.'s scholarships??? I got accepted back in December and still haven’t heard anything. D`X

@MsMania

Well I’m transferring to Howard. But, when I attended Hampton as far as AP Classes they said 3 or better and the AP courses that I took all went through to give me credit. And for medical forms the only one I received in the admission packet was like the medical questionnaire form and that’s the one I sent in. I haven’t received the physical form for the doctor YET but will be calling up there as soon as possible! As far as scholarships, for the Transfer scholarship I’m trying to get and institutional freshman scholarships , the lady over them named Ms. Precious Smith said notifications would go out mid-April until early May. And I was accepted in December along with you so I’ve been waiting as well although some freshman I’ve seen on here received scholarships with their acceptance letters but I think the Mid-April to May deadline are when most of the scholarships are going to be delivered.

@Bhamp09

Thanks! I think I’ll check in with the Admin office later on to check on the scholarship info. I didn’t get a medical form in the acceptance package; I only got the acceptance letter and the enrollment/housing paperwork. shrug I’ll figure it out soon enough.

And to everyone who wanted to go to Accepted Students Day, you really didn’t miss out on anything. About halfway through the program it started raining out of NOWHERE! It was TERRIBLE! That’s D.C. weather for you. I’m adding rain boots to my college checklist.

Hi MsMania & Bhamp09:

A Medical Clearance is required in order to be allowed to timely register for Fall 2011 classes, and yet I’ve read THOROUGH information in regards the mandatory medical clearance requirement is not always explained to new students until later. Without your medical clearance, the University will place a “medical hold” on a student(s), which then will prohibit him/her from enrolling for classes. Medical Clearance Forms ARE already on the website, but they’re not easily found. I’ll show you how to locate them. Also, you might want to call Howard University to make sure there are no other (new/additional) medical requirements, and that these Forms are the latest available?

*I don’t know if the links with the individual forms are able to be “cut and pasted” to you, so I’ll advise you step-by-step on how to find them.

):Go to Howard University’s website

“click” : Events, Information & Services / Health & Wellness
Then, “click” :Health & Wellness/ Student Health Center

There are different forms required for Health Professional Programs, versus student medical forms for those who are in Non Health Professional Programs. (All forms are found on the right side of the page and make sure you complete the series of forms based on your Major).

Congratulations to all.

@LilMamma

Thanks!! I’ve been trying to figure that out on my account on bison web with the hold. And what year are you at Howard??

Hi Bhamp09:

LilMamma’s college days are LONG LONG BEHIND HER…lol !

My son will be an in-coming Freshman; Fall 2011. He is an athlete, so he has to make sure all of his forms are timely processed (he has to arrive @ Howard/DC a week or so ahead of the start of classes).

We live in CA, so my Son has to be sure to get his medical clearance completed and returned timely.

There is a whole lot of information on Howard’s website that is often very difficult to locate.

Hope the information was helpful.

Go BISON !

@Lilmamma

O ok. Yea I’m transferring to Howard for fall 2011 from hampton university/ga state and I’ll be a junior. And I know what you mean about that week before because I may be doing the band up there and band camp you always have to report early.

i was recently on a tour at howard, thursday to be exact, and i remember the tour guide saying that the tuition(COA) was 42,000…how is everyone paying for that? im pretty sure that everyone doesnt have loans, doesnt have atleast a 3.2 gpa, and arent getting everything or most things covered by finacial aid…how is everyone paying for this?is 42,000 even an accurate number? please help…i love this school, a lot…but i can easily goto rutgers for nearly 20k less.

@908 I think most people on here are pulling for an HU scholarship. Everyone I have talked to has over a 3.2 and is just waiting on scholarship information. I am also.
