Ask a current Northeastern student!

Also, during orientation they told us there would be a volunteer fair for CEP at some point. Does anyone remember the date of that?

I think anything would be fine except Yankees clothes!

From the CEP website

Save the Date!
Fall 2013 Volunteer Fair
Thursday, September 19th from 10:00am to 2:00pm
Centennial Common

I wouldn’t worry about sports clothes. I’ve worn my Packers shirt with pride, and the worst I’ve gotten is good-natured teasing from my friends. I even recall someone my freshman year who wore a cheesehead to the dining hall on game days. You’ll be totally fine.

Hi, I’m an international student and will be coming to NU next spring. I have to get accommodation on campus and i have to choose between the International Village (meal plan required) and Apartment style housing (no meal plan). I do not know anyone else heading there as well. Is it easy to get close to the people in the IV? For the apartment style housing, do people usually only hang out with those in their apartment? Any advice on which choice would be better? Thank you!

For a current Northeastern student…
Do you know if students are allowed to double major across schools? Ex. if I was enrolled in Social Sciences and Humanities majoring in history could I double major in the College of Science with something like psychology? Also reverse the question…can I be enrolled in CoS then double in a major in SSaH?
Thanks!

I’m applying Early Action for the Nov 1st deadline. When is the latest I can send my SAT and ACT scores? Like if I’m taking the October test when is the latest I can send those scores for them to still count along with my early action application?

If you are applying to the College of Science, do you HAVE to submit a subject test from a math or science? Because I wanna major in psychology which isn’t traditionally thought of as strictly a science…also do I have to submit a recommendation a recommendation from a science or math teacher of mine? Does it look better that way?

Thanks for the help!

You can definitely double major across schools - there are even joint degrees which span two schools - like the math (science) and econ (social science humanities) degree. I don’t think they specify which SAT subject tests you need to take.

Last I checked, Northeastern doesn’t require SAT subject tests at all, except for home-schooled students.

How’s the food at the NEU dining halls??

I am applying early action, when do I need my FAFSA and CSS information in by? Because the January app deadline has a February 15th financial aid deadline with it but it doesn’t say when that has to be in for early action applicants

Food at dining halls is really good - IV dining hall was just redone. Rebecca’s is great for lunch and the restaurants in Curry are also good. You have lots of choices on campus for eating and the quality at most is excellent.

incubus01, this link should help you out.

http://www.northeastern.edu/financialaid/applying/howtoapply.html#profileonline.collegeboard.com</a>

“If you have applied for an Early Action admission decision and are interested in financial aid, you should file the CSS PROFILE, available online at profileonline.collegeboard.com by December 1st. You will receive a tentative financial aid award at the same time as your admissions decision at the end of December. To finalize your financial aid award prior to the May 1st deposit, you will also need to file the FAFSA at [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.gov), available after January 1st.”

The fun part with the food is when you really have a craving for something that they don’t have (meaning time for takeout). Or, if you’re picky, lazy, or get stuck in a rut. Let’s not think of how many consecutive days I had burgers in IV. It can also be a little annoying to live on one side of campus and want to go eat at the dining halls on the other side. But it’s pretty good food, especially if you branch out and try some of the more interesting option.s

Ooh this makes me look forward to the food! How many Dunkin Donuts are there on the campus? Sorry for these irrelevant questions haha! I’ve already found all the information I need about the programs and student life but I really need to know if I’ll have a full and satisfied appetite at NEU. Haha.

Let’s see… There’s a Dunkin in Shillman, another in the Ruggles T station between IV and the rest of campus, one in Hayden Hall, and one on Huntington Ave. So 4. Plus a Starbucks in the student center and one on Huntington. No one will ever be short of coffee.

Also, if you’re looking for relevant food things, here’s a list of places that will accept the Dining Dollars that are part of your meal plan:
[Off Campus Vendors | Husky Card | Northeastern University](http://www.northeastern.edu/huskycard/vendors/off-campus.html)

And here is the map to all the food places on campus

<a href=“Dine On Campus”>Dine On Campus;

Clearly, our knowledge of the food system indicates that we have our priorities straight.

To ivynatan:

Unless you are a transfer student, you can’t go to apartment style housing. If you are a transfer student, then sure, there are lots of opportunities to hang out with your roommates and neighbors and even people from different floors.

@ kiddie & nanotechnology
I’ll never go hungry if I go to NEU! Thanks guys for the information! :D
