What are your choices?

Transfer students can’t choose their housing

I think many transfer students get placed in IV the first year - which is a great place to be

In the past transfer students have mostly been in the YMCA building, along with other places around campus where there’s space.

I have searched the the NEU web site and admitted students web site, looking for where to send final high school transcripts electronically. I would assume that both student financial services and admissions want a copy. Do you recall where these are to be sent?

If you send it to admissions, they’ll get a copy to SFS as well. As a matter of fact, the university frustratingly seems to send ALL transcripts to admissions, even if it’s specifically addressed to someone else in the university. Almost cost me a major national scholarship.
But anyway, have your school send it to admissions and they should get it sorted out.

In general, how much free time do you have?

It depends on the time of year, the classes you take, what activities you join, the type of student you are (do you do every reading assignment?), etc. Finals or midterms week - zero extra time. The rest of the year - you should have time to explore Boston, hang with friends, see a movie or concert, etc.

Thanks kiddie! As someone who only joined one club in high school, I want to be able to take advantage of the many that northeastern offers but don’t want to be overwhelmed between classes, work study, and that as well. but its reassuring to know that I will have opportunities to explore and not just be caged up in the library all the time ;)

We’re about ready to order up a laptop for an incoming freshman in the School of Engineering. The minimum requirements posted on the NEU website, wisely does not point out preferences for one OS over the other. However, I received feedback that students are better connected with a Mac vs a PC, as more professors, and students are posting and operating through the Apple OS. AT NEU School of Engineering is there a preference.

It’s gotten to the point where the majors software you’ll need to use is available for both. What people use is generally just a matter of personal preference. I don’t think the college of engineering is any different. If you get a PC, you’ll get more bang for your buck than a Mac, in terms of hardware specs.
Really, though, it comes down to whatever you are most comfortable with, and either will be completely fine.

Believe me - it does not make a difference. I have 2 sons in engineering and both have PC’s - does not matter one bit -not sure where you got your feedback - it could be just the opinion of 1 or 2.

when i visited the university i remember someone saying you could order things from bed bath and beyond online and then pick them up or have them put in your dorm when you move in. Is there any truth to this or is it just wishful thinking?

It’s true! [Moving Solutions for Freshman - Bed Bath & Beyond](http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/btsmovingsolutions.asp?)

I don’t recall that, but that may be new since I started 3 years ago. If it’s the case, I’m sure you’ll get more info over the summer.
During Welcome Week, there are a number of outings to stores, such as Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond, where they have a bus that takes students to and from for College Night. It can be pretty crazy and supplies get cleared out quickly, though. Once you have your school, address, though, you can order things online and have them sent directly there. That’s what I did for my towels and bedding freshman year instead of lugging it with me halfway across the country. That’s probably the easiest option.

What is the best size for under bed storage containers? And are bed risers allowed in Stetson West?

What is the floor plan for IV North, as in what is the order of the room numbers? Which side of the building are what room numbers on?

I lived in International Village freshman year… I don’t remember if it was “north” but I assume it was, since I was on the north side of the building if you look at a map. I just looked up my old room number (which is a sign that I should probably start deleting old emails, since why do I even still have that?) and it ended in 34. My window faced north… towards the grass/park/whatever you wanna call it. In the direction of Ryder.

This is a link for the floor plan. This is for the sixth floor. You can change the “06” to whichever floor you need.

Thank you both so much
