Ask a current SC student anything...

This sounds a little stupid but I was wondering when USC school year 2009-2010 starts and ends?

Do you know what time freshman orientation ends at? My orientation is on July 14-15 and I have to arrive 7:15 Am on the 14th but I have no idea what time I’m leaving on the 15th

depends on what time you finish registering for classes. some ppl take forever and some ppl are quick. i was the last to finish registration from my group and that was at 3

[USC Academics - Academic Calendar - Academic Year 2009-2010](http://www.usc.edu/academics/calendar/)

The semester is over whenever your last final exam is, sometimes they could all be at the beginning, sometimes they could be on the last day. It depends on each individual class.

What kind of teachers should my S expect as undergraduate engineering major in math and science classes. Are the professors engaged, appear to like teaching or are they chosen primarily for their research abilities. How about the issue of English language fluency in math and science type classes. What have you heard/experienced?

i would love to attend usc do you have any advice about admissions to increase my chances? should i go for an interview?

the first year of undergrad engineering, you have one intro to your major class, and then fundamental classes like math, physics, chem, bio, etc. And you’ll probably take a couple of your GE requirement classes as well.

As is the case everywhere, some professors are great teachers and some aren’t so great. Ask upperclassmen for advice and recommendations.

English fluency: do you mean the students or the teacher? If you mean the teacher, I have had very little problems with that, I’ve only had one teacher, my calc II professor, who I had some trouble understanding, but I got used to it and he was a great teacher. You may run into this problem with some of the TAs for your classes, but generally they’re pretty good about it. If it’s the student you’re worried about, well, I can’t help you there.

If you want to get into USC: put together the best profile of your high school experiences, test well, get consistently good grades, and express your interest by attending and doing lots of USC admissions programs. Yes, and interview too.

Hawkings I meant English Fluency by the professors and TA’s. Thanks for your reply. What is the earliest students have been notified that they are admitted?

How difficult is it to transfer into the film program at USC? I know it is super competitive. Is it even possible? Also, do you know if it is possible to transfer into Annenberg? I am currently a freshman at a Cal Poly SLO majoring in journalism, but lately I have been getting more involved with film work, however Cal Poly does not offer a film program. I have always been interested in USC, but I would not have been able to afford going there for four years. Do you know anything about transferring? How difficult is it, what is required, or anything else.

Hi there

When comparing USC and Georgetown University, can anybody advise which College is better for someone who has plans to take a Liberal Arts degree, but is undecided. He enjoys Theatre and Economics. Which University is better for these 2 options?
One hears that USC is very much a jock school, and the social life revolves around Greek, and is mostly about drinking. Is that true? How good is the social scene at either of these Universities?
Finally how easy does one get accepted to do a graduate degree by an Ivy League University, coming from either of these Universities (assuming that the grades are high and similar in both Colleges)? Thanks!

does anyone know of a great maid service in the area that can clean out my USC apartment before I move into it?

Can anyone give any insight to how Grad housing is at USC in the University Regent apartments?-The apartment building/layout + the general area?

Thanks!
