They mail you a check

They will mail it to your LOCAL ADDRESS on growl.

I got caught drinking in my friends room by an RA on duty I think. We drank 3 bottles of Vodka. They took all our id’s and info. What’s going to happen now?

damnnnn…how did you get caught so soon!!!

It’s better to start breaking rules later during the year when the RA loses interest in meeting everyone, so that they don’t check up on you as often

I already set up my own router in my dorm room. I already called resnet and they said that routers arn’t encouraged, and they don’t support routers but if you set it up yourself and k now what you’re doing as long as you don’t mess up the system then nothing will happen. Just wanted to see if anyone got in trouble for having a router before? All I did was plug a router in with it’s normal settings, made the SSID invisible so that nobody can connect to my router unless they know my username and I also put a password on the router. This pretty much limits my room mate and myself to using the router. I’m doing this so that I can use my desktop, and a friend can use my laptop.

So basically just wanted to ask, what are some consequences of having a router? Can my settings ever mess up the system, or get me caught? Has anyone ever gotten caught before?

Hey BostonPringles, glad to see you’re still with us!!! Did you get your id back? Did you get in trouble or placed on disciplinary probation or something? Did you get rid of all the vodka?

My roommate’s brother set up a router last year and never got in trouble so he set one up for us this year and told us not to worry. There’s so many people doing it that I wonder what can they really do about it.

I hope that when you say you set a password you meant you have set up encryption (e.g. WPA2-personal, AES). Generally you can also set it up so that the router only accepts connections from specified MAC addresses.

I would do all I could to protect my info in a place crowded with the time and knowledge to hack effectively.

Anyone a theatre major here?? I’m undeclared at CHASS now. Is being a theatre major hard, in the middle, or easy? I’ve never taken a theatre class. Do you actually act or is it more like watching plays and writing scripts and stuff?

Do we have to redo the health insurance waiver each quarter? I already completed it before the school year, but now I’m getting charged for health insurance for winter quarter.

Personally, I have never had to re-submit an insurance waiver after it has been processed for the first quarter. And for the winter quarter statement I have already been credited for the health insurance. On growl it will show an insurance fee and a credit to your account for the insurance charge. So be sure to check to see if there is a line that indicates your account being credited for the insurance.

i want to room with a different race student. is it possible for me to have that option?

I live in NorCal and I’ve always wanted to go to SoCal for college and my only chance is to make into a UC. I’m pretty sure with my stats that I can’t make it into UCI or UCSD or UCLA. Too hard! So what do you think my chances are for UCR? The suspense for the next few months is going to kill me and I just wanna know what news I’m in for. Oh, and my stats are not good at all.

asdfjklxD - your chances look slim imo. my uc gpa was 3.6 and my sat was 2080 and i had more ECs and i got rejected from every UC cept ucr and ucsc (and merced, but i didnt apply there), and this year will be harder than it was last year (the year i applied). ucr is no longer a referral school…
good luck to you though! hope you make it in.

Hey guys! I’m usually very active on the forum from now (decision time) until school starts in the fall. I know many first years or transfer students may have a lot of questions… so feel free to ask! I will try my best to answer. (:
