Ask a current UCR freshman anything!

So I got placed into LNRC 35 after taking my MAE and that is not what I was hoping for from it… I’m a freshman and I can’t even add that class for my freshman year because they are all full. What are the chances of me graduating in 4 years still? I’m in CNAS so I need to take 2 quarter semester of math to get into basic chemistry while everyone took it in there first quarter. Should I be worried that I’m not going to graduate in 4 years?

Is there any way for me to graduate in 4 years by taking only 2 summer courses? Will i also catch up to my fellow freshmen someday?

EDIT: Idk if i’m using the ucr class search engine right, but whenever i try to find lncr classes, no results are found. Can someone send me a link or somehow guide me towards finding a lncr class also?

@ucralumni94:

LNCR 35 is still open. On classes.ucr.edu, go to the drop down menu and select “Learning Center (Non-Academic)”.

Lol, don’t worry too much about graduating on time, at least at the moment anyways. Classes you place into for your freshman year won’t be the issues that could potentially delay your graduation date. And if it really becomes an issue, there is always summer school. You’re an incoming freshman, don’t worry so much; just have fun and remember to read/study and do your best. :)

EDIT: NVM Found. Thanks a lot

Does anyone know when classes that were closed during orientation will be opened for registering? I heard that they will be opened after every student registered but I’m not exactly sure when that will be.

Does anyone know how Glen Mor is? Like is it similar to pent land in terms of like RA’s and hall events and such?

Also any reviews would be helpful too!

thanks

@teobeo94: September 7th. If you want to get your class, you will need to get onto Growl as soon as the website opens. Sometimes Growl will open at midnight, other times it won’t open until later. Growl is a crazy mess when the second pass opens. But don’t worry, a lot of people drop during the first week, so you may also be able to your class then. :)

@IsTrivial: Glen Mor is nice. I haven’t lived there but I’ve stayed there a couple times. It is similar to Pentland. There are still RAs and a lot of events and free stuff. You also get card access to the Pentland gym. The bedrooms are about half the size of a Pentland room, which isn’t too bad because it is just you sleeping in there. It is also the most secure of all the UCR campus apartments. You also get dining dollars (to get those bomb ass sandwiches from Scotty’s lol) and if you choose, a meal plan.

Thanks so much for the advice 42327119! :)

Is it possible to change resident halls?
I was put into West Lothian, and I kinda want to transfer out of it.
Also, how and when should I do it? It’s summer now, should I wait until school starts or not?

@sunnyfish: no you need to make this request ASAP because it takes a lot of time, call housing tomorrow morning!

Hey i got a question. I plan on visiting my GF that goes to UCR and she planned on taking me to some UCR block party. thing is that its only for student only. how would she be able to get me in?

I will be joining UCR as an international graduate student in cs and I want to about the part-time jobs off campus as well as on campus and also about the placement fare?? how is the placement record of UCR

Whoa! I’m the thread originator, pretty crazy looking back at this 6 years later. In case anyone’s curious, I actually ended up declaring Computer Science and transferring to UCLA. I’m now working as an engineer up in silicon valley.

I want to take Calculus in the fall, so I want to attend a community college in the summer. Is there an online course I can do? How behind am I? There has to be a way I can start calc in the fall. I know about the summer school session at UCR but UCR is too far from me. Are there any other options? Thank you.
