And I have interesting news…the famous poet W.S Merwin came to speak to the whole school, read some of his poems, and sign books! He also answered any questions that we had about the process of writing poetry or just poetry in general…it was a truly life changing experience. Not many high schoolers can say they shook hands with someone that won the Pulitzer not once but TWICE. Merwin is amazing and I would encourage you guys to read some of his work.</p>
<p>Do you now anyone that takes Chinese or Arabic, if so, are they really hard?</p>
<p>Deerfield has an amazing languages department and it has a total language immersion program. Many of the language teachers are native speakers. A French teacher is born in Paris, two of the Chinese teachers are from China, the Arabic teacher is a native speaker, Three of the Spanish teachers are from Argentina and Chile. Some of the language teachers taught at colleges before they came to Deerfield. We mostly speak in the language in the class. The classes are very demanding though, but they are fun. I think you will love it.</p>
<p>Are all the PGs at Deerfield jocks, or are there many there just for the academics and for another year of seasoning before college?</p>

<p>I know a few friends that take Chinese…they really enjoy it…but like every class at Deerfield, they are challenged by it sometimes. They have a quiz in Chinese just about every day.</p>
<p>Well most of the PGs are here for sports…but they have to do senior work as well so don’t let that fool you.</p>
<p>I’m unsure of how grade reports come out…but I’ll be getting back to you in a few days? Midterms come out soon.</p>

<p>I don’t know specifically about each of those programs but I know that we have won many new England titles for swimming and we have one of the biggest pools in New England. Our orchestra also does a lot of off campus performances and things like that.</p>

<p>what did u do to get into deerfield? like what did ur grades look like and what classes did u take? how were ur ec’s? i’m applying for deerfield and want to get in reaalllyyyyy bad. i haven’t been to the school yet but for some reason it stuck out to me more than all the other schools and reading all the comments here are making me want to go even more!</p>
<p>Ummm, my classes at my school were all advanced so I had no choice but to take all honors classes. My grades were all As, I had about 4 ECs that I had been doing for a while and about 2 that I had just started.
Deerfield stuck out for me a lot, too! It was always my first choice. The main thing for Deerfield is for you to show INTEREST in going there…and really shine through in your essays and interviews!!!

<p>Is deerfield mostly a sporty school, and if I’m not an athletic person at all would that matter? Do you know how hard the french classes are and if you know anyone in the class can you ask them what books they use? What would you say are the most popular clubs on campus?
